This is a Gorilla hieroglyph. They are found on the undertunic of the gorilla costumes. They were never actually featured on film but hidden under the heavy leather gorilla vests. The only time you saw a gorilla hieroglyph was during the hunt scenes in the original Planet of the Apes. Various versions were seen on the bandoleers of some of the senior gorillas.
