Some cool info you may not know about

Alasdair

Alasdair definitely had "IT", whatever "IT" is. But beyond the personality was the fact that Roger Price (creator of
You Can't Do That On Television) knew how to spot "IT" and how to promote "IT."

Roger would hold auditions from time to time, and Alasdair got picked out of one of those auditions - the same one
where he found Doug and Vanessa, in fact.

All the YCDTOTV cast members participated in drama classes long before they ever went on the air. Roger would watch the
classes and write the "characters" that the kids played based on the personalities he saw emerging. Roger had been a
producer in the UK for quite a while already, and he'd had more than one teen idol on his shows. When he saw Alasdair in
the drama class, he knew he had another potential star on his hands, so he wrote parts that would give Alasdair the opportunity to be noticed. Once the cameras rolled, Alasdair did the rest.

On the set, Alasdair was always working hard, trying to think up new funny bits to throw into a sketch. He learned a lot
from Les Lye, too. Of course, that doesn't mean he didn't do any goofing around like normal kids do. He and Christine
used to talk to each other and with the crew in "Bob & Doug MacKenzie" speak. Take off, eh?

Off the set, he could be quieter and more shy than you might expect someone like him to be.

One thing he liked to do at the end of a work day was to go through his fan mail (there were bags and bags of it),
pick out a letter from a girl that had sent her phone number, and call her up. Hysterical screaming was usually the result.

Alasdair loved the Beatles. You'll notice in the "Hanging Out" episode he was playing the guitar left-handed a la Paul
McCartney, but then again Alasdair is also left-handed. He liked to watch movies and videos - mostly comedy, of course.

His dad Alan is a bagpipe player, and so is his older brother Duncan. In fact, Duncan plays
the pipes in the opening dungeon sketch of the "Music" episode (the later one with Alanis).

Alasdair attended St. Pius X Catholic High School in Ottawa, where he played Rugby.
The Webmaster of their site is Gerry Fung.
Let him know they need to put up some sort of tribute for their famous alumnus!

When Alasdair was a freshmen, some upperclassmen handcuffed him to his locker.
