February: This was Boyz II Men's second Video Soul appearance.
This time, Cooleyhighharmony was coming out the week
after (February 14th). They dressed the host like them,
explained how they got to Michael Bivins, they are not like
New Edition, they didn't want to think about going solo,
described what the "Alex Vanderpool Era" is, and why they
named their first album Cooleyhighharmony. Michael Bivins
was also with them, and they sang "It's so Hard to Say
Goodbye to Yesterday."
February: Boyz II Men made their first appearance on Soul Train. They lip synched "Motownphilly" with Michael Bivins and ABC. They were then interviewed by Don Corneilus on how they got discovered.
March: (?) On MTV's The Party Machine, Boyz II Men lip synched
"Motownphilly," and during a short interview, ABC and
Michael Bivins were there. They sang a tune of a song
acapella.
April (?): On an Ebony/Jet Showcase on Boyz II Men they showed a bit of the "Motownphilly" video and then talked to Michael Bivins about how he discovered Boyz II Men. They then showed Boyz II Men singing "Can You Stand the Rain" a capella in a room without Michael Bivins. In a short interview, they said school taught them how to harmonize, but it really was a gift from the Lord. They already knew how to harmonize, but their sound just blended together very well. Their high school also helped enhance their gift. A question about the Alex Vanderpool style came up and Nate explained it saying that he took the name because Michael Bivins thought he looked like him and best fit the description of All My Children's Alex Vanderpool. At the end, they said that they are the same guys that walk down the street, but they just look better!
May: Boyz II Men make an appearance on Show Time at the
Apollo. They sang "Motownphilly," and "It's so Hard to say
Goodbye to Yesterday." During the song, The East Coast
Family went on stage with them.
June (?): Boyz II Men made their second appearance on MTV's The Grind, and sang "It's so
Hard to say Goodbye to Yesterday." They had another short
interview, all they really said was that they liked to sing
ballads more. At the very end, they sang a bit of "Can You
Stand the Rain."
June (?): Boyz II Men appeared on Nickelodeon's short lived music show, Hit List. They were interviewed by a young girl, and actually got asked interesting questions. Some of their answers were, not expecting to see Cooleyhighharmony be so successful, how they got the name "Motownphilly" (from one of Michael Bivins' "stupid" ideas), at first some of their families did not believe their success, but now they do, hope to be singing for the rest of their lives, and that they are not perfect, (Nate didn't want to say his flaws). Wanya told a funny road story that happened to them in Virginia. They were signing their CD's at a record store, and a cop came up to Mike and asked for his autograph. Mike gave it to him, so then the cop told him that there were a bunch of cop cars outside and they had a warrant for Mike's arrest! It was a joke though!
June (?): Boyz II Men and Michael Bivins appear on MTV's RockLine
where people call in to talk to the guests that are there.
They talked about getting their first batch of fan mail (Nate
was the fan mail man), they lived together with Khalil, how
they got their name, the story of how Boyz II Men found Michael
Bivins, what "Motownphilly" means, what the
Alexvanderpoolera means in the "Motownphilly" video, and they planned
to continue an education (but actually didn't). They also
sang an oldie a capella and a bit of "It's so Hard to say
Goodbye to Yesterday." Nate did a Stevie Wonder
impression too.
September: At MTV's first annual Rock-n-Jock B-Ball Jam, Boyz II Men sing the "National Anthem."
September: Boyz II Men appear on the Arsenio Hall Show!
They sang "It's so Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday," and
the East Coast Family came on stage. Then they had an
interview about how Boyz II Men found Michael Bivins, Nate
explained Alex Vanderpool, using Mike as an example, talked about going
on tour, they sang a bit of "Uhh Ahh: The Sequel," and
"Please Don't Go."
November (?): On BET's Video LP, they talked about it being
unusual for new artists to write songs on their first album,
how the group started, gave a positive message to kids, how it
was to work with Michael Bivins, and the only thing that
changed about them was not being at home as much. They
also sang a bit of "Uhh Ahh" acapella.
December (?): Boyz II Men make another appearance on BET's Video
LP. This time with the entire East Cast Family. They sang
most of "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday."
December: Boyz II Men appear on the Lou Rawls Parade of
Stars, and do a shorter version of "Motownphilly."
December: Boyz II Men go to the Billboard Music Awards, and
present an award to LL Cool J, but unfourtantly won nothing. Before they presented the award to LL Cool J, they sang a bit of "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday."
