The Cyanese Chronicles

Vicky Pratt gave life, heart and soul to the character, "Cyane, Amazon Queen"on the world reknownly loved, "Xena - Warrior Princess" this year in the fourth season opening episodes, "Adventures In The Sin Trade 1&2". I was amazed and uplifted by "Cyane's" spirit of fairness - to all - and loyalty to her Amazon Nation. She believed that all lives were both precious and redeemable. She believed that we all have choices, and once made, we must live with their consequences. But she also believed that life - on a daily basis - gives us the chance to make new choices and create new consequences. Something "Xena" herself has echoed many times. Vicky Pratt's protrayal of "Cyane" was the Light and Conscience that made this dark and somewhat depressing episode easier to handle and even more 'worth it'! We all got to see the person in "Xena's" life that, in the end, would be the one to save her very soul. To help her find her way back - not just to the Light - but, also to her soulmate, "Gabrielle". I truly believe that "Xena" came full circle with "Cyane". When she helped to free her and the other Siberian Amazons, "Xena" corrected a horrible wrong done to "Cyane" and her whole tribe at the hands of the now redeemed "Destroyer of Nations". Somehow, "Cyane" was able to forgive "Xena", once again honoring the code she lived and lead by. As a leader, "Cyane" seemed to thrive on helping her tribe much more than just having the title. Through her brief, but poignant, life, "Cyane" showed "Xena" what her existence on this earth could be like when based on other peoples' needs instead of just her own selfish ones. Our Siberian Amazon Queen lived and died for these convictions. In doing so, I believe, "Cyane" planted some of the very first seeds of redemption in "Xena's" soul. And, perhaps, in many others' as well....
