Sons of Thunder Movie Debuts on CBS

"Walker, Texas Ranger: Sons of Thunder," starring Chuck Norris and the rest of the cast of "Walker, Texas Ranger" plus Jimmy Wlcek, Tess Harper, John Amos and Ed Bruce, will be broadcast as the "CBS Sunday Movie," May 4.

Walker Helps a Young Man Reconcile His Past in Order To Carry on His Father's Legacy. Wilma Knight, Mother of Series Star Chuck Norris, Appears in a Cameo Role.

Modern Texas Ranger Cordell Walker (Chuck Norris) helps one of his former "Kick Drugs Out of America" students complete the transition from childhood to manhood and find his life's mission after his father suddenly dies, on WALKER, TEXAS RANGER: SONS OF THUNDER, to be broadcast as the "CBS Sunday Movie," Sunday, May 4 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

In addition to Norris, the film stars the rest of the cast of the hit CBS action-drama series "Walker, Texas Ranger" plus Jimmy Wlcek, Tess Harper, John Amos and Ed Bruce.

When Walker's good friend Minister Thunder Malloy (Bruce) suddenly dies, Thunder's eldest son, Trent (Wlcek), the former "Kick Drugs Out of America" student, returns to the home he left six years earlier -- after opting to enter the military, instead of the ministry. To help his mother, Katie (Harper), raise her other three children, Trent gets a job working as a mall security guard -- where he quickly proves himself and his masterful karate skills by stopping jewelry thieves during a robbery. Walker sees a lot of himself in the young man and knows that Trent is neither fulfilled nor living up to his true potential as the son of a great man. As Trent tries to find his life's purpose, further confidence and guidance come from Pastor Roscoe Jones (Amos), Thunder's good friend and successor at the church.

Meanwhile, someone in Dallas is on a rampant cop killing spree, and before Walker can stop the madman, Ranger James Trivette (Clarence Gilyard) is almost killed when he ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time. His good friends Alex (Sheree J. Wilson) and C.D. Parker (Noble Willingham) remain at his hospital bedside after the incident. As Walker attempts to put an end to the bloodshed, Trent ends up helping him catch the killer in a dramatic action sequence. This helps Trent realize that there are many ways to help people and he puts his karate skills to double use when he opens the "Thunder Karate School" with a private investigation company on the side. The torch is thereby passed from father to son, and the legacy continues.

Wilma Knight, mother of series star and executive producer Chuck Norris and series executive producer Aaron Norris, appears in a cameo role as Millie Johnson, a family friend of the Malloys who is a mourner at their home following the funeral.

In addition to his role in "Walker, Texas Ranger," Norris has also starred in the feature films "Delta Force," "Delta Force II," "The Hitman" and "Missing in Action" and its sequels, "Firewalker" and "Sidekicks." He is a black belt in Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwan Do, both Korean fighting styles, and knows all forms of the martial arts. He is the author of the books The Secret of Inner Strength and The Secret Power Within--Zen Solutions to Real Problems. He also created "Kick Drugs Out of America," a non-profit organization, to help fight the war on drugs and youth violence in schools.

Clarence Gilyard, also a series regular on "Walker, Texas Ranger," played Conrad McMasters in the series "Matlock" for five seasons. His feature film credits include "Top Gun" and "Die Hard." He is a real-life cowboy and devotes much of his free time to riding and roping in celebrity rodeos for various children's charities.

Sheree J. Wilson, who plays Assistant District Attorney Alex Cahill in the series and film, played April Stevens for five seasons in the long-running hit CBS series "Dallas." Her feature film credits include "Cold to the Touch," "Crimewave" and "Fraternity Vacation."

Noble Willingham, who portrays Walker's closest friend, former Texas Ranger C.D. Parker, in the series and film, has appeared in more than 30 feature films, including "Up Close and Personal," Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," "Chinatown," "Good Morning, Vietnam," "City Slickers" (I and II) and "The Distinguished Gentleman."

Jimmy Wlcek is well-known to daytime television viewers for his roles as Ben Shelley on "Ryan's Hope" and Linc Lafferty on CBS's "As the World Turns." His feature film credits include "Blue Wave" and "Steel Magnolias." He is an expert martial artist.

Tess Harper was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in "Crimes of the Heart" and for a Golden Globe for her role in "Tender Mercies." Her additional feature film credits include "The Jackal," "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys," "Far North" and "Her Alibi." She was nominated for Cable Ace Awards for her roles in the television films "Incident at Dark River" and "The Hidden Room."

John Amos starred as Kunta Kinte in Alex Haley's mini-series "Roots" and is also well known to television viewers for his role as James Evans, the father in the hit CBS comedy series "Good Times," a role he originated in another hit CBS comedy series, "Maude." His additional television credits include the role of Gordy Howard in the landmark CBS series "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Among his feature film credits are "Die Hard 2," "Vanishing Point" and "The World's Greatest Athlete." Prior to his acting career, he was a professional football player.

Ed Bruce, who wrote the popular song "Mammas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys," appeared in the CBS mini-series "The Chisolms," the series "Bret Maverick" with James Garner" and the television films "Frank and Jesse James" and "Separated by Murder."
