Growing up before the advent of TV, my family gathered around the radio for The Grand Ole Opry. Eventually we learned to sing along and Roy Acuff, Minnie Pearl and all the guests soon became familiar names to us. Later I learned 3 chords on a guitar and found I could play along with a song and then drown out the guitar by singing!! And in even later years, my children growing up would actually REQUEST songs.! LOL.

Then came 1980 and I heard Billy Walker on a car radio and loved his style. I have bought as many of his recordings as I can find. He's still #1 with me!! Now the kids have flown the nest and I can watch the Opry and other C/W shows on TV. And I still sing along with the newcomers.
