In a little over a year, COLLEEN FITZPATRICK, better known as
the flame-haired singer Vitamin C, has gone from pop's "It Girl"
to a pop culture dynamo, conquering radio, video, fashion
magazines, movies, and even America's teen prom circuit.
Fitzpatrick started out as a dancer, and began her musical career
as the lead singer of the alternative band "Eve's Plum." She became
an international sensation when she launched a solo career, calling
herself 'Vitamin C'. She rocked the music world with the release of
her first album "Vitamin C" in 1999, which produced such hits as
"Smile," "Me, Myself and I" and the chart-topping prom anthem
"Graduation (Friends Forever)," a song about her life in high
school. Her first effort went multi-platinum, and Fitzpatrick was
honored with a lipstick named after her (Tommy Hilfiger's exclusive
Vitamin C shade) and a Mattel doll created in her image.
Aside from her career in music, Fitzpatrick was also busy with
film assignments, but small musical roles dominated her screen
work. After making her first appearance in the 1988 movie
"Hairspray," she was seen in such films as "Mambo Kings,"
John Singleton's "Higher Learning," "Crinoline Head," "High School
High" and "St. Patrick's Day." After her rise as 'Vitamin C',
Fitzpatrick won her first starring role, that of the modern
version of Bram Stoker's classic character 'Lucy Westenra' in
Dimension Films' "Wes Craven Presents: Dracula 2000" opposite
Jonny Lee Miller and Christopher Plummer.
Soon after, Fitzpatrick had a brief appearance as a singing
narrator in the 2001 teen film "Get Over It," whose release
coincided with the debut of her sophomore album "The Itch." The
first single of the same name is also featured in the film's
soundtrack. Fitzpatrick was most recently seen in a cameo as a
guitarist in the Mark Wahlberg film "Rock Star," and played
'Paprika' in "My Ex-Girlfriend's Wedding Reception." She also
contributed to the soundtrack of the Miramax Film "On the Line"
with the song "Do You C What I C."
The singer-actress also acts on television, having made guest
appearances on the series "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" and "The
Equalizer."
Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick was born on July 20, 1972. She currently
resides in New York.
