The Holgersens in Bergen, Norway

The above photos are of Great-Grandfather Andreas Severin Holgersen and his wife Aagot Cristoffersen Frizvold. The name Frizvold comes from her father Christoffer Pedersen Frisvold. He was born in 1826 in a place called Grytten in Romsdal, Norway. He married Brit Olsen from the same place. They had at least six children, and Aagot was the oldest, born on June 6, 1851. The seated children in this "studio" shot are from left to right, my Grandfather Bernhard, Betzy, Augusta, and Harald. The next photo is of Andreas and Aagot with a friend in their house in Oslo.

We know that Bestefar immigrated from Bergen to the United States and landed in Boston on July 1, 1909.

Betzy moved to the United States for a few years and became a member of the Mormon Church. She never had any children.

This photo is a copy of a photograph from Bergen. Seated in the front row, L-R are Andreas, Paulene, Cornelius and Aagot. Standing in the second row to the left of the frame is the husband of Aagot's sister who is on the other side of the frame. The woman in the center of the picture is Hanna-Chrestines mother. We dont know who the other people are.

Pauline Mathea Frisvold

Pauleine Mathea Frisvold, born on October 12, 1857 and married to Cornelius Skillingstad in Udhang Chruch, Orlandet, on December 2, 1880. Pauline immagrated to America in 1884, and visited back to Norway in 1910. Cornelius died on March 8, 1913. Pauline died at Bethesda Old Peoples Home on December 24, 1947 and is buried next to her husband at Frankes Graveyard in Bloomington, Charles Mix County, South Dakota, USA. She is one of the sisters of Aagot Frisvold Holgersen.

Bestefar and Grammy Holgersen

My Grandfather Bernhard married Clara Knudsen and had three children. Agnes, Harald, and my father, Ralph.

Grammy and Bestefar's children from left to right. Harald, Agnes, and Ralph Frizvold. (Now we know where he got his middle name from!) Agnes died as a child so she never had children, Harrold and his wife Ruth had Harald Jr, and Kenny.

Ralph married Doris Fugazzi, and have four children. Glenn, Mark, Donald, and Tracy. Glenn and Mark and Donald were born in Winthrop, Mass before moving to New Jersey. Tracy joined the family while we were in New Jersey.

So let's see now. My Great-Uncle Harald in Bergen had two children. Finn and Sonja. Sonja married Stein Barlaug, and they had three children..Dag, Kristin, and Torhild. Here is the picture of the entire family and all the latest additions.

Great-Aunt Augusta in Bergen had three children ..Hanna Chrestene, Alf, and Agot. Here is a picture of Hanna Chrestene and Alf.

Hanna never had any children, and Agot died young, but Alf had three children..Berit, Ann, and Johanna. Berit and her husband Trond-Ivar and their children Kirstin and Atle are living in Arendal, Ann lives in Bønes, and Johanne is in Bergen.
