Pune is one of the most significant intellectual centres of India. Pune has a very advantageous climate due to its favourable location on the plateau which is in the vicinity of a mountain range, the Western Ghats. The best time to visit Pune is from June to March. The summer months of April and May can be avoided.

There are ancient temples in and around Pune. Alandi is one of the most revered temple towns situated in the outskirts of Pune. Sant Jnaneshwar, the 12th century saint, poet and yogi attained samadhi at this holy place. For the last 800 years Alandi has been attracting devotees.
