About the Site
This site was created for Physical
Educators, Health Educators, and Coaches who are interested in creative
ideas for the classroom, and who want to inject some fresh ideas into their
curriculum. This site will show some sample activities and web sites
we used during station work in a K-5 Program.
The reason for starting this web site was to try something
new in the regular physical education classes. My idea was about an education
model using technology in the gymnasium as part of our education. As Physical
Education teachers today, administrators are looking for us to incorporate
technology in our our lessons. While a teacher has limited training
in the new advances in technology, It is up to to the physical educator
to get their training and information on their own. Some teachers
go back to school to get this new training, while others go to conferences
and get the information through lectures. As an independent study I would
like to create a web page for parents, teachers, and students (kids) with
information on Physical Fitness.
In my web site I would include an area for the Parents the following:
- News letter on upcoming school events for Physical Education
- Updates of what their children have been doing in class
- An Example Portfolio - Each student has a portfolio - a copy
of all homework assignments that can be downloaded if their child loses
their homework. Picture of example materials or children active in our classes.
- In formation for Adult education and Physical Fitness links
or programs available in the community
An area for Students (Kids)
- Additional activities that they can do outside of class. A
source for students to research history, rules, and records of sport covered
in class. Games of interest. In school assignments to do projects when they
are unable to participate in class.
An area for Teachers.
- Links to web sites that have great PE information.
Sites that could include an entire lesson on the computer.
