Pi

Pi is the 16th letter (P) of the Greek alphabet. In mathematics, it serves as the symbol for the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Pi is an irrational number, meaning it will repeat infinitely without ever appearing exactly the same. Pi has been calculated to over 51 billion decimal places with the use of computers.

Oh! And don't forget to Celebrate Pi Day!!! Since Pi is usually just rounded off to 3.14, you can celebrate Pi Day on 3.14... or March 14.

here are some equations that use Pi:

a) Circumference of a Circle: 2 pr
OR
   Circumference of a Circle: p d

b) Area of a Circle: 2 p r2

c) Area of a Sector: A= measure of arc AB/360 p

d) Surface Area of a Right Cylinder: S= 2 p r2 + 2

e) Surface Area of a Right Cone: S= p r2 + p rl

f) Surface Area of a Sphere: S= 4 p r2

g) Volume of a Cylinder: V= p r2h

h) Volume of a Cone: V= 1/3 p r2h

i) Volume of a Sphere: V= 4/3 p r3

What do you get when you divide your jack-o-lantern's circumference by it's diameter???
