There is a little story that goes with this picture. My SIL works for Growing Family, the chain company that does hospital pics for many hospitals, including ours. She offered to get me a free package of pics for Julian. But since he came home on O2, I asked if we could go back to get his pics taken after his cannula came off. They said yes. At the end of April, we took him off O2 for a trial run, so I waited a few days for the tape markings to fade from his face, then I took him in for his pics. I was told to wait for the proof sheet, then tell my SIL which pic I wanted printed. But my hospital uses a film camera instead of digital, so they said to mail the film in for development, then I could order. Well, as it turned out, those instructions were wrong--an order is supposed to be placed when the film is mailed in for development, so they can use your order info to ID the pictures. My film went in without the order, so it got lost. The first time I called looking for my pics, they said they were not developed yet, and to give it a couple more weeks. A month later, they said they still didn't have any pics for me, and that was when I learned that we had done this all wrong! There is supposed to be a number on the film that should match the number on my order form which I still had, but they said they had nothing for this number. They found my address but it was from when Lucas's picture was done in 2005. They tried looking through "unclaimed pictures" for a baby that matched my description of Julian. They said they couldn't find him. By this time, Julian was getting too big for them to retake his picture. I emailed my SIL, and she spoke with her supervisor to see what they could do. I also gave her a detailed description of how Julian looked at the time they took his hospital pic, although I was unsure of the exact outfit he wore that day. Within a week or so my SIL's boss had located Julian's picture, under a completely different number than the one I had on my order form! I have no idea how that happened, but when I saw the picture, it was definitely Julian!! A few weeks later, my SIL finally had a chance to place the order, and by early AUGUST we finally got back Julian's hospital picture that was taken in early May! Just crazy! But I am glad we got it. :) |
