Rules

Rules are needed to keep order. Any breaking of General Rules (OOC) can result in suspension from the RPG, banning, or loss of special abilities that have been gained. Any breaking of the school rules (IC) can result in detention, loss of house points, suspension or expulsion from Hogwarts. Chat rules are posted on the Chat Page. Mods and Admins caught breaking rules will probably have their Mod/Admin access taken away, either permanently or temporarily. Book Characters not obeying their rules will have their character taken away.

General RPG Rules

1. Respect and obey Mods and Admins.
2. No swearing or inappropriate language.
3. No special abilities, special pets, or special possessions, without asking.
4. Be original. Come up with your own name, own traits, own plots.
5. Do not impersonate other people.
6. Do not read Owl Posts not addressed to you. This is a bannable offence.
7. When posting on OOC boards, use one name only. No switching names.
8. Play by the books.
9. Try your best to use proper grammar and punctuation. No Net-speak!
10. Don't enter threads not addressed to you except with permission.
11. It is common curtesy to respond to all threads you are in. Don't let them die out.
12. Use double parenthesis (( )) when speaking OOC in IC posts.
13. Ask permission before advertising websites.

School Rules
1. Forbidden Forest is off-limits.
2. No one under 3rd year is permitted to go to Hogsmeade.
3. You must have admin permission for anything other than a cat, rat, toad or owl.
4. You are not allowed into any other common room other than your own.
5. No swearing, cussing, or unauthorised duelling.
6. Any use of dark-arts can result in expulsion.
7. Students must wear uniform at all times, except during school holidays.
8. Any rules which are in the HP Books, apply at this RPG.

Book Character Rules
1. To play a book character, you MUST ask permission first.
2. It is your responsibility to answer posts that are addressed to you.
3. You MUST post with your book character frequently.
4. You MUST play the character realistically.

Mod/Admin Rules
1. All rules apply to you.
2. Do not delete posts without a valid reason.

Class Rules
1. Only Teachers may start class threads, give or take away points, or request a class thread to be deleted when finished.
2. Teachers must post regularly in class threads. For a discussion/lecture style lesson, this means at least once every day. For a lab style lesson, this means at least once every three days.
3. Teachers should declare OOC any changes to the rules that are specific to their class, and whether it is a discussion/lecture lesson or a lab lesson.
4. Teachers may create websites or write up readings that the class can use as a reference, and may also create homework/extra credit assignment threads. These may count for house points, but may not be required--so you can't take points away for not doing it.
5. House Points may be given in multiples of 5 for turning in homework, doing extra credit, answering questions well, or a correctly completed class assignment. They may be taken away in multiples of 5 for IC tardiness, rudeness, misbehavior, or IC failure to complete an assignment (IE, they RP that they didn't do it). Teachers may also take away points, give points, or give detentions in other threads where it is logical to do so.
6. Students may not post more than once between teacher posts in a discussion class. They may not post more than five times between teacher posts in a lab class.
7. Students must raise their hands and be called on when answering a question unless the teacher indicates otherwise.
8. All students must post with their character code (house and year) as such: Keb Rivers G5.
9. Students may join a class at any time as if they had been there the entire time. You are only tardy if you RP that you are late.
