BASIC COMMUNICATION SKILLS 3

I. SYNOPSIS


Basic Communication Skills 3 provides participants with oral and written communication skills used at the work place and in everyday situations. The course covers occupation and duties, map and directions, time and money, schedule, safety, and day to day socializing formulas for all occasions. As backup for their functional materials, grammar and reading are also reinforced so that the participants can extend their studies by reading manuals, books and other publications at work on their own. Participants also benefit from native speakers and or video programs

II. OBJECTIVES


By the end of the course, participants will be able to communicate with other people in the work place and in everyday situations, in both written and spoken English at a pre-intermediate level, score 400 in TOEFL.

III. COURSE OUTLINE


GRAMMAR: Verb Tenses, Auxiliary Verbs, Questions, Count/Non count Nouns. LISTENING: Socializing Formulas and Stress and Intonation. SPEAKING: Socializing, Occupation and Duties, Maps and Directions, Time and Money, Asking Questions, and Safety. VOCABULARY AND READING: Vocabulary Level 1000, Reading Passages. WRITING: Journal Writing and Writing about one's self.

IV. COURSE REQUIREMENTS


Pass Placement Test for Basic Communication Skills 3 or pass Basic Communication Skills 2.

V. DURATION


Sixty hours. The course meets three times a week for 12 weeks. Each session lasts one and a half hours.
