High School Senior Year

My senior year in high started off pretty lame.  The relationship with my boyfriend was kinda shiesty ever since I found out that he got his groove on with another girlie cadet in ROTC.  Totally brutal.  I tried to keep to myself a lot more now.  Susan and I didn't speak as much anymore and I really missed her.  Ever since she joined Color Guard for band things sort of changed between us.
Somewhere around the same time that this was going on, the AFJROTC FL-51 Annual Car Show was hosted.  The ROTC Office was packed full of bustling cadets... all running around making sure that the event was running smoothly and like clockwork.  I really didn't have much to do... basically I walked around with a walkie-talkie looking for freshman and sophomore cadets to do random work where needed.  I decided to go for a little walk along the adjacent hallways within the school.  The rest of the school was quiet and undisturbed unlike the ROTC section.  Also, I was kinda wondering where my boyfriend ran off to as I hadn't seen him around for some time and he wasn't answering me on the walkie-talkie.  As I was going down the English Hall, I saw Nina sitting on the floor looking all sad.  I plopped down next to her and talked to her for a while.  I found out that she was having some problems with her boyfriend and things weren't really looking up for them.  I totally understood as I was going through some of the same bull shit myself.  Since that day Nina and I started hanging out more.  We had known each other since fifth grade, but we never meshed with the same social click.
The best memory that I have for that semester is when Oniki, Nina, and I decided to go creeping.  I don't know exactly what we were looking to do, but driving around seemed better than sitting at home.  We decided to check out Waffle House, one of our good ol' stomping grounds.  As we were getting out of the cars, two guys parked in front of us.  One happened to be fine as hell... oh yeah... very finger licking good!  Anyway, we introduced ourselves and we found out that they were airmen going to tech school on Hurlburt.  Ironically enough, my dad happened to be one of the tech school instructors!  Whoa Nelly!  After Waffle House we all went to Soundside (private beach for all base housing residents).  Everyone was standing around chatting when all of a sudden the two guys stripped down bootie butt nakie and jumped into the sound!  Nina and Oniki went along with the gesture and put their clothes in the car.  Myself, however, decided to play it safe and stayed on the beach fully dressed.  After much harrasment from the girls, I got up the nerve to jump in as well.  Nina gave me her car keys so that I could put my clothes in the car.  I left my shirt on that way I could atleast be somewhat decent.  As I threw my remainig clothes in the trunk, some of the change from my pant pockets fell out. I bent over to pick them up and as I got the last coin, I heard a click.  When I looked up, I saw that the trunk had closed on itself... along with the keys!  I tried all the doors and ofcourse they had to be locked!  With no other option, I walked back to the beach to tell Nina the news.  I didn't even get to finish my sentence and before I knew it she had chased me halfway into the sound!  After the chasing fiasco, we all went back to the car to see if there was someway we could get the car open.  The two guys had to dip since they had a curfew, so it left us girls standing there trying to salvage what decency we had left!  Finally, after trying to pry the windows open, a van drove by and we flagged it down.  By our luck it happened to be a Major... along with his wife and kids!  He was understanding and helped us jimmy the lock open.  We thanked him profusely and offered him any change that we had in our pockets, but he declined.  Since then, I think I have been cursed with bad luck.
The next semester finally came.  This was the time for Dining Out and this HAD to be the best Dining Out ever!  Not only was I awarded Corps Commander, but Zach and I were crowned King and Queen of Military Ball!  The Ball wasn't schedule for another month and I was in charge of the project.  So I was on cloud nine!  The Ball was usually held at the Auxillary, but I was determined to have it at the Soundside Dining Facility (formerly the O-Club).  I worked so hard on this project that I even got the DJ from Seville to be our entertainment.  On the night of Military Ball, I was running aroung making sure that the sequence of events were taking place according to my schedule.  About midway throught he ball is when we decided to introduce the Royal Court.  The Sweetheart and Gentlemen were announce by flights respectively.  Nina was chosen by the flight to be the Sweetheart and I was really excited for her!  When it came the time for Nina and her Gentleman to walk under the sabers, the lights dimmed.  I got excited because I thought someone was giving my girl a big entrance!  However, that was not the case since I realized that the lights were not coming back on!  I was so upset that I nearly cried, but I was more angry so I held it in.  Zach and I had to walk under the sabers while people shined flashlights on us.  Afterwards, a police officer walked in and informed us that some idiotic drunk had hit a telephone pole across the street and the power would not be on for the remainder of the night.  So after that we all stayed and cleaned up the event.  As everyone was about to leave, the DJ came up to me and told me that I was the hottest girl at the Ball and gave me his phone number!  Yeah buddy!  Zach was pretty purturbed about it because the DJ was macking right in front of him... so like a good girl I turned down the number.  Besides, I already had his number... I did hire him ya know!
A month later Prom came around and it was the lamest Prom ever!  The girl that my boyfriend cheated on me with at the beginning of the school year asked him to dance with her.  Zach told me that he declined her offer.  I was not enthused about that at all!  So calmly and maturely I talked to the girl and explained to her that next time she needed to ask my permission first, due to the circumstances.  She got really upset about me approaching her and told me that Zach never declined her offer like he said earlier!  Whoa buddy, I felt like a total ass!  Zach and I left the prom early and headed over to the hotel room.  Here I hope that atleast the rest of the night could be salvaged and I was really excited about him seeing the room.  I had a bottle of champagne set up, along with strawberries, and other romantic doodads.  We got to the room and hadn't even been in there for ten minutes when we had a knock at the door.  It was Piowaty along with his girlfriend.  I was a little upset that Zach had invited guests without consorting with me first.  So they came in and Piowaty brought with him a small bottle of Vodka.  Needless to say, Piowaty's girlfriend and I sat on the bed watching movies while the two boys drank all the champagne, drank all the liquor, and ate all the strawberries while rolling on the floor like asses.  Two weeks later Zach and I broke up.  It wasn't anything expected, but later on I learned it was much needed.  The past can always be forgiven, but it can never be forgotten.
Graduation for me that year was a little awkward.  It wasn't hard not having a boyfriend, but when that boyfriend happened to be your bestfriend is when things got complicated.  I really missed Susan as well because I hardly ever saw her.  Being with my boyfriend distanced me from her and I wasn't there for her as a friend like I should have been.  I really didn't know how to apologize or approach her because in just a few short months our lives had taken seperates paths and we each changed drastically.  So for the last week or so I hung out with Nina, trying to make the best of my last days as a Senior.
About a week before graduation, Nina and I went to get our belly buttons pierced.  We both chicken out though.  As we were about to leave I noticed a guy on the table and he was damn fine!!  Oniki told me that his name was Jarred and that he was a Senior from our school.  I asked him why I had never seen him before and he said that he sat right next to me in American Government!  I felt like a total jackass... he sat right there and I never noticed because I was always asleep in class!  Anyway, Jarred gave me his number and told me to call him, but I never did because I was too scared.... oh well.
Ah yes... the night of graduation finally came!  I was on my way to the ceremony and I looked down and saw that half of my gown was soaking wet!  See I told you that I have bad luck!  I grabbed the gown and ran into the bathroom to dry it under the handblower.  Luckily the trick worked and I didn't have to look like a retard after all!  We all got lined up and we were on our way to the football field when I saw Nina running by screaming at everyone because she was late... it was pretty funny actually.  We finally got to walk after what had to be the best Valedictory ever!  I don't even remember whether or not if anyone cheered for me.... I was too busy concentrating trying not to fall on my ass across the stage.  So that wraps up my days in high school... a part of my life that will surely be missed.
