Mares and Foals
Before the foal is born
The mare is usually bred for a spring or early summer foal. Mares can give birth to a foal from the ages of 4-20 years of age. Mares carry the foal for 11 months. It also might take a couple times to try to breed your mare. 2 out of 3 times it won't work.

After the foal is born
After the foal is born it usually stands up after 30 minutes. Then the foal will drink his first milk which has colostrum which has impotant nutrients for survival. The foal soon learns to be lead and haltered. The foal will drink from his mother and gradually try grass and grain when he is older. After 6-8 months after living with his mother, he will be weaned. Which means he will taken and moved to a differant stall and pasture for over a month.
