Do You Look At Yourself? By ladee_sarah When I say look at yourself I’m not talking about in the mirror I’m talking about your user lookup. Other Neopians use it to get to know you, find your shop, to find your guild, to see how good you are at battling, to get to your trades and a whole host of other things. So why shouldn’t you? Just because they really were designed to aid other Neopians doesn’t mean it can’t help you too. Getting to your lookup To get to your lookup all you have to do is type your username into the searchbox on the yellow bar and then your lookup will come up. If there is a pet called the same thing as your account you will have to click once but otherwise it’s very fast. Brand new-ish feature that was added after I submitted this to the Neopian Times is that your username on the yellow bar is now linked to your user look-up making it even easier to get there. What’s makes up your lookup The core things that make up any user lookup are: 1. Neopets username 2. Name 3. Gender 4. Country 5. Started playing Neopets 6. Pets 7. Link to trades 8. NeoHome 9. Stamp Album These things only appear on your lookup if you own one or if you add it specially or win it: 1. Description 2. Hobbies 3. Shop 4. Neodeck 5. Guild 6. High scores 7. One player BD 8. Trophies How you can use your lookup Rather than going to the main shops, then guild HQ and then teleporting to your guild you can just type your Neopets username into the searchbox to go to your lookup then scroll down and click the link to your guild. It’s much faster. Depending upon what you’re doing, going to you lookup is a fast way of viewing your shop like everyone else. Good for proofreading and making sure any html you’ve added in the description isn’t breaking the page, putting the items in funny places or not letting them show up at all. You can jump straight to the page to view the rooms in your Neohome rather than going to Pet Central then Neohomes etc. You can admire all of your shiny trophies You can see how you’ve been going in the One player Battledome You can take a peak at your NeoDeck Adding and changing stuff in your lookup If you’ve just realised that people can see your real name and feel a little insecure all you have to do to change it is click the Help link on the yellow ba, on the help page there’s a pink Bruce, which will take you to your account preferences where you can change all sorts of stuff. If you want to add some text to your user lookup to tell people all about your cat Fluffy’s broken leg – so sad – all you have to do is go to the chat page linked on the yellow bar and at the bottom there is a thing called Chat Profile. The text you add there is your chat profile but also appears on your user lookup and so do the hobbies/interests that you can choose on that page. In the same place you can add CSS scripts to jazz your lookup up a bit but be thoughtful, try not to blind anyone, check it to make sure it works and make sure it doesn’t take too long to load, not everyone has cable internet you know. Anyway, lookups aren’t a big deal but they are helpful and using your own lookup not just other peoples and they should increase your productivity!
