What is Freemasonry (an explanation by the United Grand Lodge of England) An Introduction to Freemasonry (who are the Freemasons, and what is Freemasonry?) Did you know that English Freemasonry is organised separately and independently from Scottish and Irish Freemasonry? In the United Kingdom alone, there are three Grand Lodges for English Freemasonry, Irish Freemasonry (both Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic), and Scottish Freemasonry. The organisation which manages Freemasonry in each kingdom is called a Grand Lodge. English masonry (or freemasonry) is administered by the United Grand Lodge of England ( UGLE ). This site contains links to many useful sources of information about Freemasonry: both worldwide and English. It also has copies of official statements by UGLE; and a List of Grand Lodges recognized by UGLE, including all Overseas District Grand Lodges, Inspectorates and unattached Lodges. |
