The first Grand Champion for the NKC in 16 years and the ONLY Super Grand Champion in History!!

Toro is one of the most phenomenal American Bulldogs in the history of the breed.  He possesses excellent versatility in working ability with exceptional conformation, a combination rarely found in any dog of any breed.

Toro was bred by Mr. Alan Sloan and was born on November 23, 1996.  His Sire, Turbo, comes down from such dogs as Rip ‘N’ Woody on the top half, who produced the Schutzhund influence in Toro’s pedigree with Banuelo’s Predator SchH III, IPO III as his Grt, Grt Grandsire and Banuelos’ Ike SchH III, FH, IPO III as his Grt Grandsire.  Toro’s Dam, Little Rock, comes down from dogs such as Scott’s Dixieman, Johnson’s Red Machine and Rip ‘N’ Woody on her top half and Freddie Kruegger, Scott’s Lady Lujo and Legend’s Petropin of Sure-Grip on her bottom half.  This breeding of Turbo x Little Rock has consistently produced offspring that excel in both conformation and working ability.

Eileen Jaworowski’s original intent for Toro was solely for the purpose of working as her partner in Schutzhund.  When she first saw him at six weeks old, she could see that he was an excellent working prospect, but had no idea that he would be so exceptional conformationally.  As a young pup of three months old, he was shown for the first time in conformation.  After Toro took Best Novice Puppy in Show both days, Eileen realized that the dog she wanted to focus solely on Schutzhund work with should continue to show.  Toro made his American Bulldog Association Championship on January 17, 1998 at the age of 13 months, taking Best in Show at the ABA National Championship in Ocala, Florida.  Toro earned his first ABA Champion of Champion’s class win that spring.  That same spring, Toro began showing with the National Kennel Club and was a two time Best Male in Show winner.  Since then, Toro has taken four NKC Champion of Champion’s class wins and needs only one more to become the first NKC Grand Champion since Scott’s Dixieman 15 years ago!!  Toro finished his ABA Grand Championship on April 2, 2000 and we expect him to finish his NKC Grand Championship by April 16, 2000.  Comments made by NKC, ABNA and ABA judges have included, “That’s one of the finest American Bulldog pups I’ve ever seen” (Don Little); “If you want to see fluid movement, watch this dog” (Lem Miller); “He’s the Arnold Schwartzenagger of the Bulldog World” (Pat McAteer) and Eileen’s personal favorite, “Damn if that dog doesn’t have the Perfect bulldog tail!” (Bill Eckles).

Toro began his working career as a young pup.  From six weeks of age he was taught ball drive, rag work and obedience.  Toro did not receive ANY corrections until he was one year old.  He was trained during that time solely with pure positive motivation through his balanced drives for food and prey.  At the age of 14 months Toro earned his very first title, the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC).  By 16 months of age he represented our breed in New Hampshire by trialing for and passing with flying colors his Schutzhund BH, an on and off lead obedience/temperament test under DVG Judge Sandi Purdy.  Since that time, Toro has earned the Working American Bulldog Association’s Breed Suitability Test title (BST), Obedience I (OB1) and their AD title.  The BST proves a dog suitable for breeding with a hip certification required along with a conformation evaluation and includes a test of the dog’s abilities in obedience and bite work.  The OB I is an obedience title and the AD is an endurance title, proving that the dog has the physical endurance to sustain a 12-mile run.  Toro completed the run in just over an hour.  A few hours after completing the AD, he was on the training field demonstrating the WABA’s BST II title at a trial held by the Long Island Schutzhund Club.  This kind of stamina is crucial to working breeds.  Toro, pulling 1200 lbs, earned his Weight Pull I title with the American Bulldog Weight Pulling Association.  Anyone who has ever seen Toro and Eileen working comments on his spirit and enthusiasm for both his owner and the task she has set out for him to accomplish.  Unlike many dogs seen working in obedience and bite work, Toro comes alive for his work.  He is confidant, self-assured and at his happiest when he is on the sleeve, but make no mistake, Toro is also very “for real”.  On his BST evaluation he scored very high in courage and fighting drive, qualities he demonstrates not only when working, but when protecting his property and family as well.

Toro has competed twice in protection tournaments and has been undefeated.  He won the very first East Coast Combined Challenge, a protection tournament for hip-certified dogs that combined scores from three judges who evaluated the contestants in conformation and then in two protection scenarios.  Competing in this event were several well-known ABA Champions and dogs who also had BST titles.  Toro won the event hands down!  Toro also won the ABNA challenge after doing a protection routine that exceeded in intensity, by far, that which was performed by the SchH III demo dog!!

Toro has completed his BST II going high in trial and being pronounced high in courage and fighting drive by WABA Judge Mike Stone.  He has also completed his CD3 under Judge Don Matthews who said, "Toro shows all the heart of a true catch dog".

Toro has completed his NKC Grand and Super Grand Championships, and was the first Grand Champion in 16 years and the first Super Grand Champion in History!  Making it even more special, when winning the NKC year 2000 Nationals, Toro competed against his own daughter, Ch. Majec's Torsade of Topline, who was the Best in Show at only 12 months of age!!

In addition to his excellence in conformation and working venues, Toro is also a wonderful family member.  He is very devoted to his family and loves nothing more than a long swim in the pool with Eileen’s daughters Candice and Cori.  He loves to play tennis ball, Frisbee and “trampoline” with the kids before settling down for a snuggle in the grass and a belly rub with his mom.  This kind of balanced temperament is what the American Bulldog breed is supposed to be about and Toro is producing it, as well as everything else that makes him exceptional, in his offspring…..that’s what makes a truly great dog!
