Sgt-Major Williams was always one for doing it by the book.  Whenever he needed to prove a point, or give an order, he would quote the relevant "DEPOT ORDER" or "KING'S REGULATION".  It is unclear which are the genuine orders, and which are the ones made up on the spot by the ever crafty Sgt Major.
