CHARACTER PROFILE The butt of many jokes on account of his height, Lofty towers above all with his talent for singing.  Frequently called upon by the Sgt-Major to "volunteer" himself for what could be a hazardous mission.  In his private life, we learn that he has several women waiting for him when he returns to Blight at the end of the war.
