"So how was your trip to America?" Sophie asked her friend while they were shopping at a local grociery store. Anya and Dimitri had just got back from traveling in America. They went all over the world. They went to Holland, America, Germany, England, and Canada."Oh it was wonderful!" Anya exclaimed. "We had so much fun there. Those Americans do things so differently over there, but we enjoyed it. I do wish you and Vlad could have been there with us. You would have loved it there."
"I'm sure I would. I wish I could have been there at your wedding. I'm sure your elopment was so romantic. All elopments are." Sohie declared. She seemed to know so much about elopements.
"Yes it was very romantic and I sort of wish it didn't end. But Dimitri and I agreed it was time to settle down. We have our whole lives a head of us to do things like that."
"Oh I wish Vlad and I could have gotten married when we were young like you and Dimitri. But we were just too shy to get married. And I suppose if we got married when we were young, Vlad would have never met Dimitri and they would have never become friends." Sophie guessed.
"Are you two planning to get married?" Anya asked picking up some oranges. Sophie did the same. Because everyone knows that Vlad "LOVES" oranges.
"Yes we're getting married. I just wanted to wait until you got back for you could be my maid of honor." Sophie said sweetly.
Before Anya could answer her friend, she heard a very familar voice. A voice that she hadn't heard in a while.
"Anya? Is it really you?" the mysterious voice asked. Anya turned around and was surprised to see Brian!
"Brian! Oh my it's so good to see you!" Anya said hugging her old friend. Then she backed away "What are you doing here in Paris?"
"Well, I moved here a while ago. What are you doing here?" Brian asked. Anya looked around to see if Nellie was close by, but she didn't see her.
"I live here now." Anya explained. "But where is my manners? This is my best friend Sophie."
"Hello Sophie, it is so nice to meet you." Brian said as he shook hands with Sophie.
"It's nice to meet you too, Brian. Have you known Anya long?" Sophie asked.
"Well, we met in the orphanage in 1921 and we have been friends since." Brian exlpained.
"What has Nellie been up to? I heard you both got married." Anya asked.
"I'm not sure. We are sort of split up now. She wants to move to America and I want to stay here. We both have very different dreams so it isn't working out." Brian admitted.
"That's too bad. Maybe you will get back together." Anya said hopefully. "Well, I have to get going, but it has been nice talking to you."
"We should get together sometime." Brian said nicely.
"That would be wonderful. I really want my husband to meet you. It would be great." Anya declared.
"It's good to hear that you got married. I'm happy for you." Brian told her.
"Well, thank you. I'll see you soon. Bye"
"Good bye." Brian waved.
Anya and Sophie turned around and went to the cashier. They paid for their stuff and they headed back to Anya's apartment. Anya had to tell Dimitri this.
They walked through the door and sat the groceries on the counter. Dimitri walked up and helped them put the items away.
"So was it busy at the grociery store?" Dmitri asked. Dimitri was a completely different person when he was with Anya. He was a very enjoyable person.
"Not really. The same as usual." Anya said forgetting about Brian.
"Anya, why don't you tell him about your friend that you saw a the store." Sophie reminded her.
"Oh yes, how could that slip my mind? I saw one of my old friends from the orphanage." Anya said.
"That's great, which friend was it?" he asked. Anya told him a lot about her life in the orphange. And he told her his life too.
"It was Brian. He was saying Nellie and him split up because they wanted to live in different places. I think that is silly to break up over." Anya declared.
"Yeah that is pretty silly. Maybe they just have to work it out." Dimitri suggested as he put some milk away.
"Oh I remember I used to have a crush on him. Nellie and I fought over him constantly. But then I realized that the only person for me was a scheming con artist." Anya joked.
"Ha ha, very funny." Dimitri said trying to joke. But something hit him right then and there. What if Anya was still in love with that Brian guy? He knew he probably was just imagining things, but what if she did love Brian? What could he do?
