Portraits of Life

Information

Mikhail Moisse started off as a small secondary character with few lines and ‘on-screen’ time in “A Journey to the Past”.

Now he has a history, a face, a personality...and more stories than I ever planned!

I’m still not sure where my inspiration for him came from, but I’m almost certain it was a mix of the true story a teacher told me about his sister eloping with someone ‘from the wrong side of the tracks’ and his role as the older brother who helped to bring the lovers together, and the accounts of the Russian Jewish life I’ve read.

Mikhail “Mikky” Geriiovich Moisse has been seen in several stories all ready, including “Nights of White” and “Small Prices to Pay”. His biggest role, however, will come in this story -- a first-hand account of his life told in autobiographical form.

It begins during his childhood, but focuses on his Bohemian life in Western Europe and his attempts to break from his own emotional and mental bondage, and will hopefully continue into his married life with the woman who helps him too. It’ll show all new scenes from the “Nights of White” period, as well as his marriage and fatherhood before his death in 1909.

Some of the things may be harsh to deal with. I did a lot of research for this story and found out many horrific details of the things done to people like him in that time period.

It’ll discuss his various trips across Europe and his initiation into a world of free-spirits and careless beauty, how he learned to love, his final acceptance of himself, as well as his growth through his art and his dealings with the religion and race he was born into.
