1984 Pontiac Phoenix

Stephane acquired this car in the early summer of 1999 to replace his 1978 VW Scirocco that was falling apart. The Scirocco had served him long and well as his "daily beater" but after being rear-ended by an 8-ton truck, it was time to look for something a bit sturdier. And the big bad Fury is still off the road awaiting some new parts - high-performance rocker arms I believe. Besides, gas is too expensive to be driving a big car like the Fury as a daily driver.

So we found this Pontiac Phoenix fairly cheap. Its a sharp looking two-door model with a factory sunroof and reclining cloth bucket seats, and a console shift (automatic, unfortunately). The main problem with it at the moment is that it needs a new power steering rack - and it leaks oil quite badly. But those are relatively inexpensive problems to fix and the engine runs very nicely for a car that age. Its a 2.8 liter V6, transverse mounted. (the car is a front wheel drive, like most cars built in the 80's)
