Bridget's Doll |
Once, on her eleventh birthday, Bridget Walker recieved a doll from her aunt. Now this seemed odd to bridget, she was eleven. Who gives an eleven year-old a doll? Apparantly Bridget's aunt did. Well Bridget was too old for dollies and left her doll in a trunk in the basement. Besides, the doll looked funny, Bridget didn't like it anyway. Oddly enough, the doll never stayed in the trunk, it always ended up on Bridget's bed or the stairs. One night, Bridget heard an errie voice say, "Bridget, I'm on the first step..." Here Bridget screamed for her mom. She heard a scuttering noise as if whatever it was, was returning to where it came from. Her mother didn't believe her of course and after a quick investigation, went back to bed. Bridget didn't sleep that night, but the noise didn't come back. The next day, Bridget had a funny feeling that the doll had something to do with last night's events. She pleaded with her parents to get rid of the doll, but her parents said that her aunt wanted her to have the doll, throwing it out would be rude. So instead, Bridget locked it in a cabinet. That night, Bridget was awakened by a voice saying, "Bbbbrrriiiiiidddgggeeett, I'm on the fifth step..." Again the scuttering noise followed and Bridget had another sleepless night. The next day, she told her friends about what had been happening. They just laughed at her. But if the doll was climbing four stairs a night, there would only be one night left... Bridget locked her door and slept in the dark that night. Everything went well until midnight. The voice woke her, "Bridget, I'm on the top step..." Knowing that remaining in her room was unsafe, she made a mad dash down the hall where she met a dead end. Bridget's parents woke the next day to find Bridget dead at the bottom of the step naxt to a roller skate and her doll. They figured that she had slipped down the stairs and broke her neck. The doll was burried with her. But hey, weren't the old skates kept inside the locked cabinet??? |
