There was an existing deck that
'we' started with. (I held the camera)
Brett added on the sides for
framing 2x4 uprights and used 1 1/2 x 12 pressure treated lumber for the
sides.
This same idea can be used to
make a compost bin.
Since we used the pressure treated
lumber, we added a liner inside the framing so we do not poison ourselves.
A rail was added to finish off the appearance.
A layer of rock was placed on the bottom for drainage. Atop that we used some top soil. In layers we added moo-poo, vermiculite, pearlite, peat moss. Alternating the layers. A basic fertilizer was used about 3 inches from the top. A soaker hose is buried in the soil about 4 inches down. Being that this is Florida and it is a raised garden we were worried the soil would dry too quick. The buried soaker hose really seemed to work well.
