Our friends Sleestack and his human Xta decided to share their expereince building Sleestack's new home. Here you will find some great photos and see how much it cost to build! |
COST BREAK DOWN: Cage materials including Melamine, edging, plexiglass, dowels, moulding, brackets, track, corner brackets, fasteners, wire mesh..............................$475 Interior of cage including PVC pipe, connectors, plastic runner material, rope.............................$130 Light fixtures including 4ft flourescent fixture and two dome fixtures.........................................$55 Light bulbs including Zoomed 5 UVB, Zoomed 150watt light, & regular 60 watt household bulb.........................................................$27 SUBTOTAL..........................................$687 Tools which we did not have including circular saw, miter kit, corner clamps, levels, rulers, angles, saw blades, drill bits, jig blades, psuedo saw horses, various clamps...................................................$189 We also need new cage decorations and a new dish that can be hung onto the PVC..........................$??? So if you add all of these tools and other supplies together it came to a total IN EXCESS OF $876 + and they still need to add some more plants and other furniture! |

Who ever said building a home from your iguana was cheap had no idea!! If this price tag scares you, then an iguana is most likely NOT the right animal for you! Don't be fooled into thinking that you can properly house an iguana for only a few hundred dollars. Don't forget that the smallest size enclosure recommended is 3'x6'x6' -While sometimes people have to sacrifice a few inches to fit one in their homes, much smaller than this and you'll have one unhappy iguana! |
