On May 13, Sony announced Playstation Portable. Playstation Portable (also known as PSP) will ship late 2004 worldwide. This is Sony's first try in handheld. The PSP will give Nintendo's Game Boy Advance a run for there money. The PSP will play games, movies, and music on a new disc called Universal Media Disc (UMD). It's half the size of a DVD and will have Dvd-like dual layer medium, offering 1.8GB of storage. It will have copy-protection and dvd style region coding. Each disc will have its own unique ID number too. The PSP will have a triangle, square, circle, and a X button same as the Playstation one controller. The LCD screen is 4.5in with 16:9 widescreen ratio and 480x272-pixel. Also it will include 3D graphics, support for MPEG4 video and a USB 2.0 port. The picture above is just a concept model. The final version will deput at E3 in May, 2004. The games for the system will deput at the Tokyo Game Show in September, 2004. Sony will release the Playstation Portable late 2004 worldwide.
