Welcome to Ian's NOT SO NEW Home Page!
(Last updated 12 Dec. 2000 - moved to Web refugee camp)

Here's my first major re-design since Entertainment Weekly pronounced Web pages uncool. Now only Weblogs are cool... so, in an effort to compromise, I am in the process of narrowing my content. And keeping my famous walrus jpeg!

If your attention span can make it to the end of a typical line of text at Salon.com, now you can read my home page too!

My accomplishments on the Web include:

  • Lending an image to Brown University
  • Getting a letter to the editor published in the Sunday New York Times
  • Being credited for submitting corrections to UVA's online text of Great Expectations
  • having my Web page design mocked (see above)
  • Getting mentioned on the Site du Jour of the Day
  • Web design credits at CuteFrenchHouse.com
  • Being featured in the San Jose Mercury News for my macaroni and cheese box collection (link temporarily unavailable)
  • Being featured in a magazine article for my macaroni and cheese box collection (link available again!)
  • My well-checked Top 10 Movie List for each of the past 30 years
  • Being mentioned in a stupid article on recycling

I love the art of J. Otto Siebold, from They Might Be Giants album art to the pages of the New York Times. This image is of Mr. Lunch. Click it to visit Jotto World!
I'm in a book club! We try to only read good books. Papa Smurf likes to read too; he is not our mascot and the Smurfs do not in any way endorse our book club. In fact we hate smurfs, but we do encourage all creatures to read more books, even if they contain blank pages like the one Papa Smurf is reading. Sadly Papa Smurf is apparently illiterate. And cross-eyed.
I am also obsessed with the accordion. Clicking the tarot card from my special Accordion Deck will magically transport you approximately one inch down this very Web page, to my accordion links.

    CEREAL:

    • The Empty Bowl is "a webzine devoted to serving the cereal eating community," with reviews, articles and more.
    • Scott Bruce is the one person most responsible for popularizing the sociocultural significance of breakfast cereal. Check out his cereal site, Flake World.
    • Quisp has a site all its own!
    • Topher's Breakfast Cereal Character Guide is full of images and lore, as befits a frequent poster to alt.cereal.
    • Speaking of which, the alt.cereal Cereal FAQ has been unavailable for some time, so I have archived the most recent one I could find.

    MUSIC:

TRAVEL: GENIUS: Or maybe just insanity, you be the judge.
