One day I noticed an orangish color around Chewie's lips. Thinking that it was some type of infection I was very concerened. I called my reptile vet right away and made an appointment.
I haden't taken Chewie anywhere while so I had forgotten what a task it was. He had gotten too big for the cat cage I used last time so I had to use a big box lined with towels and newspaper to transport him. Getting Chewie in the box was an adventure in itself. As soon as his head was in his tail would pop out! Thank God my friend Nick was there or I would have never got him in that box.
When we finaly got in the exam room and I took my hand off the lid Chewie exploded from the box and scared everyone, icluding the vet. The vet watched him walk around and checked his skin and mouth. In the end he said Chewie was very healthy. When I asked about the orange color he said, Have you been feeding him a lot of carrots? I said, "yes" and he then told me that the carrots had made his mouth turn orange. Solution: feed Chewie less carrots.
