Addressing School Kids About UFO's
Used by permission of the author, Neal Furgurson
When addressing school kids, you should go at it from
a "sheer numbers" approach. If you get a few figures together
concerning the number of galaxies, then stars within galaxies,
then stars with the basics for life, then stars with possible life,
it becomes clear the "possibility" of ET's is pretty good.
Also, you should emphatically express that ID4 and
all the stuff on TV/Movies are NOT what we are talking about.
We are talking about all the pilots, astronauts, policemen,
air traffic controllers, and citizens that have seen things that
can't be attributed to weather balloons or atmospheric phenomenon.
Things that, to those that witness them, are very extraordinary.
I think alot more people have had sightings than the numbers
suggest, because they are embarrased to say anything about it.
Children should be taught to have an open mind and not discount a new'
or different idea because it's not "normal". Most new scientific
discoveries go through a period of ridicule and outright denial
before they become "mainstream" science.
Let them know that by talking about things like this,
they can take the stigma away that this is something "crazy". In
my opinion, the Heavens Gate Cult and the press coverage that
followed, has done a lot to hurt the credibility of UFO researchers
worldwide. We need to show the next generation that this IS a
mystery and one that NEEDS to be looked into further. Even if
only 1% of the claims are true, it means that there Is something out
there, and that they ARE visiting us.
You will be surprised by how unbiased kids can be
about this subject, in spite of all the negative press it gets.
Their instincts tell them there is more to this than what you hear
on "Strange Universe" and other similar TV shows. Kids are
naturally more curious and will eagerly accept that this is a mystery that needs
to be looked into further.
