About I-Jen Fang | ||||||||||||
I-Jen Fang was born in December 1979 in Taipei, Taiwan, and began her music education at age seven taking piano. Taking up percussion at the age of nine, she went to the United States in 1995 to attend Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Since 1995, I-Jen has studied percussion with Prof. Tim Adams of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and piano with Prof. Hanna Li. In May 2000, she graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a Bachelor of Arts degree in percussion performance and a minor in Japanese language with university and college honors. In the summer of 2001, she received her Master of Music degree in percussion performance from Northwestern University under Prof. Michael Burritt and is now a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in percussion performance at the University of North Texas, studying with Prof. Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, Robert Schietroma, Paul Rennick, Ed Smith and Dan Robins. She is also pursuing her Dalcroze teaching certificate at the Dalcroze Training Center at Carnegie Mellon University. I-Jen is currently a member of BainPercussionGroup. |
