Ereinion Gil-galad

For who knows exactly what reason, Gil-galad is my favorite elf, and for that matter anyone else from the line of Fingolfin.  They're just...neat.  Anyway, this is the place where I obsess over Gil-galad, and since just about everything we know about him has to do with the Last Alliance, it's relevent to that site too.  Hmm, I'm still disappointed by the movie though, there's like a flash of Gil-galad stabbing someone with his spear Aeglos and that's it, hmph!  So here is everything I can find movie-wise and non movie-wise, also click on most pictures to enlarge them.
A little history...

Ereinion, the first and seldom used name of Gil-galad means "Scion of Kings."  He is of course, the descendant of kings as his name says--he is the son of Fingon, grandson of Fingolfin, and the great-grandson of Finwe.

When Fingon died at the hand of Gothmog in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, Turgon his brother became king as Gil-galad was relatively young at the time.  Then, when Turgon fell at the fall of Gondolin, Gil-galad was named High King of the Noldor (in Middle Earth).

He remained the High King of the Noldor after the death of Turgon, through the War of Wrath, and the Second Age.  The elves in the West were united under his rule, especially against Sauron.

Gil-galad ruled in Lindon and many of the survivers of the ruin of Beleriand lived there under his rule during the Second Age (he we a mighty king, go him).

When Sauron made war upon the elves, Gil-galad led them and eventually formed the
Last Alliance of Elves and Men with Elendil the Elf-friend.  He was slain during that war, he died in combat with Sauron under the heat of his hand.

And now some random pictures (anything I could find)...

Here's the not as nifty as the picture above it cast picture of Gil-galad (he does however have a nifty crown).

And here is a picture of Gil-galad's costume,
and some of his banners.

Here is a picture of Elrond and Gil-galad with the elf-host, and in it you can see Gil-galad's famous spear, Aeglos, which means "snow point."

And here's another nifty picture of Gil-galad...

And here's a random elf in the elf-host of the Last Alliance to accompany part of the lay that tells of Gil-galad's death.

The Fall of Gil-galad

Gil-galad was an Elven-king.
Of him the harpers sadly sing:
the last whose realm was fair and free
between the Mountains and the Sea.

His sword was long, his lance was keen,
his shining helm afar was seen;
the countless stars of heaven's field
were mirrored in his silver shield.

But long ago he rode away,
and where he dwelleth none can say;
for into darkness fell his star
in Mordor where the shadows are.
