Chapter three: cold jungle
“EIKO!!!”
Arios screamed. “GOSH WHY DID YOU HAVE TO TOUCH SOMETHING?” Arios went to her
side and stared at her in bewildered amazement.
The white light fled, with the wings
still in her back and the mark on her forehead.
The shop-owner practically screamed,
“You’re an Espial!!!! An Espial!!!!!! This’ll make millions for next year’s
festival!!!!!! I’ll be so rich!!!!!”
“An espial?......”
Eiko said under her breath.
Arios stepped back, “How.........” he
trailed off, not knowing what to say.
Eiko looked at herself in a pawned
mirror, “I....I don’t know...all I did was touch a marking on that pottery-“ She pointed to the ivory vase. The markings were gone.
Tatsumi, “Hey, what happened to
it....?”she looked up Eiko. “Hey! It’s on your
forehead!” She pointed to what she was talking about.
Eiko looked in the mirror. Seeing the strange markings on her head.
Another person walks into the shop.
It’s a young woman with green hair and the same for eyes. She walks directly to
the check out desk and slips the merchant a note.
The shop-owner glances back and
forth from her to the note and her again.
The girl glares at him, waiting for
him to read the note. ”Idiots......the
world is full of them...” She glances around at the store and sees Eiko,
and the rest of the group.
“....Espial........”She murmurs. “Where did you get that?!”
“This? ....I just did, I found it on
a piece of-“
The girl ran over and clamped her
mouth shut, “Shh, you don’t know what’s listening....”
Momentarily after she had said that,
Eiko had lost the glowing white of everything and the girl released her hand,
backing away and back to the shop-owner whose jaw had dropped.
The girl glared at him, again and
muttered, “Ahem?....”
The shop-owner eyed her and handed
her the note back and went to the back of the shop through a backdoor. As soon
as she was sure he was really gone, she went back over to where the LOD cast
now joined by five others.
“You touched a marking on a piece of
pottery?” She raised an eyebrow.
“Mmmm....hmm.....” Eiko nodded her head
and examined where the white light had shimmered once before. She found not a
trace of what she had seen before. “What happened?...”
“It’s evaporated into your body, you
can call it out whenever you need to.....like...” She turned around to see if
the shop owner was still gone, and that he was. She spread out her arms and
slowly and aura formed about her body, it formed into an emerald green glow and
jungle toned wings shot out her back. A strange marking appeared on her
forehead too, mind that it was different.
Arios, “Whoa....what’s going
on.....?”
The girl, “I’m an espial as
well....”
Arios smiled, “Before we get to the
kinds of spirits that are in you, what’s your name?...”
Yu glared at him, “Shut it
slick.....”
“All I’m asking for is her name...what’s
wrong with that?” Arios shrugged.
The girl glanced away, “I don’t have
one...”
Eiko and Tatsumi exchange looks,
“You don’t have one?”
“That’s what I said, isn’t it?” She
spouted.
Eiko moves her lips to form the work
‘okay’ and looks away.
Lumiale decides to get into the
conversation and says, “How about Nanashi?.....”
Tatsumi, “No, that’s too technical,
we need a nice one...”
“I don’t need a name.......”
Eiko, “Well, we have to call you something,
I mean it’s just not right for a person to have a name......?” she frowned.
Girl, “I was called Setsuna
once......if you call me anything, call me that......” She glared at Eiko,
Tatsumi, and Lumiale and changed back to the way she had looked before.
“Setsuna it is!” Eiko cheered.
“Whatever...”Setsuna crossed her
arms.
The shop-owner came back in with a
big, broad lance. “Here it is...I’m
surprised you knew I had this though.....how did you find out that I had such
things?” He leaned over the desk as she handed him the money.
“.....that’s not a bit of your
business.....” She started to walk over by the group in the corner by the
pottery.
“I’d like to think it’s my business
to know a little about my customers that I sell greatly valued things to....”
The shop owner was asking for it.
“Would you like to know how your
store looks in pieces?” She glared at him and raised an eyebrow while Yu and
Arios exchange looks. “let’s leave now.....it’s not
safe to stay in Lohan....” She walks out the door and into the moonlight,
shadows taking form everywhere.
The group takes a moment to follow,
but does so anyway.
Yu’s and Eiko’s eyes went completely
nervous, searching all the shadows for any sudden movements, thinking them to
be the clones of obits or actual ones.
Setsuna kept a steady pace, walking
towards the entrance of the town, the gates bathed in lamplight. Arios follows
first, then the rest, still wary of the shadows.
Suddenly, a black shape forms itself
behind Setsuna, whom keeps walking. Just as it is about to strike Eiko calls
out to warn her, “Sets-....”
Yet, she stops abruptly, seeing
that, in one swift move, Setsuna had used the lance from earlier to thrash her
opponent continuously and screaming, “STRIKING FURY!!!!”
More shapes formed themselves in
front of Yu, Eiko, and Tatsumi. They drew their weapons and attacked
immediately.
Dart, Rose, Shana, and Lavitz joined
in on the charade as well, more and more shapes popping up.
Suddenly, Eiko felt a slight jolt of
pain in her wrist as she brought down her sword and she dropped it as one of
the black shapes faded. Yet, another appeared in front of her.
Yu, seeing her distress, struck the
shape with the oblivion, and the shape flitted away. “You okay?” He asked
quickly.
Eiko looked up at Yu, “Well, you’re
being nice for a sudden change.....”
Yu, “Are you okay?”
Eiko nodded and suddenly, she
stopped breathing, and she glowed white again.

Omni: Yay! another suspenseful place to stop!!! What’s going to happen?
Lloyd:
Well, she’s-
Omni: It
was retoracle!!!!!! That’s what the audience has to ask...then, if they
do.......I’ll have to type up more.
Lloyd:....why would they care?
Omni:
.....- -U.......stop negatizing things....it’s bad for
reviews.....
Lloyd:
well.....you did promise a longer chapter?...didn’t
you?.....
Omni:
...next time......since it’s a journey-ish type thing, then I can make it
‘longer’.....
Lloyd:
whatever......
Omni: ...*rolls
eyes...* well, it is pretty late, I was trying to finish this chapter before
bedtime.....in fact...I’m thirty minutes over that.....
