Lloyd: ....you wouldn’t.......

Omni: ...nah...I wouldn’t would I......? But.....

Lloyd: But what?

Omni: I could become that rabid fangirl......[lol]

Lloyd: oO NO!!!!!

Omni: Well, heads up, this chap’s rated pg-13 for descriptions of blood and stuff it’s not too bad, but please consider that it is still there.....

Chapter five: Hallway Horror

The ten comrades filed behind some bushes nearest to Hellena, now mixed from their groups, standing by whomever. Dark nimbocumolous rain clouds had moved in, and Tatsumi and Eiko side by side again, whispering quietly.

Tatsumi, “Dart walked by me!!!!”

Eiko, “mmm...so......” Eiko glanced off at Yu, whom she caught gazing her from the side of her eyes. As soon as she’d noticed him well enough, he quickly glanced back to the perilous prison.

Tatsumi, “Who are ya lookin’ at?” Tatsumi turned around and saw Yu in Eiko’s direction of her eying gaze. “OH! I knew you had somethin’ for him, you li’l monkey! Why’d’n’t you tell me?!”

Eiko, “No! It’s not what you think! I caught him looking at me and he looked away, and now he’s like trying to ignore me or something.....so....What do I do?”

Tatsumi, “Well, if he looks at you again, give a quick smile and turn away....kay?”

Eiko, “wouldn’t that lead him on...?”

Tatsumi, “Well, that’s what you want, isn’t it...?”

Eiko, “I dunno....he’s probably not interested though....”

Tatsumi looked about her to see if anyone was close enough to hear, and then said, “Well, don’t tell anyone, but I woke up one night when we were over near Bale, and I saw him like hovering over you, like just gazing at your eyelids, like they were wide open, and he was talking to himself, saying something like, ‘should I ask her, or should I wait to tell her...?’ Then I walked over and said, ‘tell her what?..’ and he just about fell over on you and said, ‘nothin’ go back to sleep, ‘ and he went back to his palette and pretended to go to sleep....to tell you the truth, I think he’s obsessed with you or something.....”

Eiko’s eyes widened, “Nah......why would he be...?”

Tatsumi, “Don’t ask me, how would I know....and besides, it’s obvious if he likes you...so.....nevermind....”

Eiko, “But...-“

Setsuna turned to face them all and asked, “Alright, is everyone ready?”

Arios, “Can I switch with Shana...?”

Setsuna rolled her eyes I don’t care...!”

Arios, “okay!” He switches places with Shana and is standing on the left side of Yu.

Everyone nodded, getting in there groups again. Eiko looked up at Yu as she stood beside him. His expression seemed the same, but it was clear that he was trying to overlook the fact that she gazed up at him.

Finally, Yu had to look down at her and questioned quietly, “Need somethin’?”

Eiko shook her head and flashed a quick smile, “Nope.....” and with that she looked away.

Yu stared at her for a moment, entranced by the smile she had given to him. It made him feel quite warm, but he knew the situation wouldn’t last, because she wouldn’t fall for him. How could she? Why would she? For what he has done, she would never even begin to think about it.

Yu, Arios, and Eiko were directed to move off to the penitentiary first, hiding behind the rocky skull wall of Hellena as a few soldiers made their way past them, talking about the execution about to go down in only a couple of hours.

“I don’t see why they have to wait until dawn......,” The first blurted. “It seems as if their just stalling for time.......I saw the executioner sharpen his blade yesterday.....”

The second nodded, “Aye, but maybe he’s using another....”

“It’s only a few hours until dawn,” The third and last stated. “It won’t be or take too long.....it makes since to me to savor the moment.......”

The other soldiers nodded and a slight drizzle of rain fell from the sky.

Eiko looked at them with disgust and gave Yu and Arios distressed looks.

They too made communication with eye language. Yu signaling to jump them in three......two......one!

As the soldiers backs were turned, each of them pounced on their unsuspecting victim.

Yu had the soldier down in what seemed like flashes of milliseconds, the soldier’s neck in two, bleeding to the vocal cords. Yu had sliced his neck with the oblivion.

Arios had knocked his out just by the fall and seemed quite pleased that their wasn’t a daring red liquid on his hands nor his sword that he didn’t have.

Eiko, being of less weight than both Yu or Arios had to wrestle the soldier to the ground. She couldn’t reach for her sword and her opponent pulled a knife on her. Yu caught a sight of flashing silver metal and quickly drew his sword once again to deliver death to the combatant. Sending the oblivion through the chest of the victim, dieing in an instant.

Yu withdrew his sword, replacing it in his scabbard, he quickly turned to Eiko, whom clutched her hand to her mouth, closed her eyes, and looked away from the distraught bodies.

Eiko’s wrist was sliced from the small knife, blood soaring down her palm and dripping from her fingers. She elevated the gash and clutched her hand to her wrist to slow the flow.

Yu frowned and placed his hand on her arm, inspecting the wound. Then, he spoke in a very low tone, “Move your hand...”

“But I’ll-“

“Move your hand, I need to see how bad it is....” Yu’s gaze pierced her eyes and she removed her hand. His words had moved her as well. ‘I need’.....why would he begin to care so much? All this time, had he been hiding it, or was he just being nice for a change? She couldn’t tell.

Arios tried to make the atmosphere cheer up, “Well, it can’t be worse than that guy....” He pointed to the soldier stripped of his vocal cords. “Heh,....heh?.....” he attempted a grin, but nor Yu or Eiko seemed to notice that he was even there. He sighed and decided to stand watch, Yu obviously getting the better of him in this situation.

Yu examined the injury with care and then took a look down at his shirt. He then said, “okay, elevate it and hold it again...” Next, he tore the hem of his shirt, Eiko watching with wild eyes.

“What’re you doing?”

As soon as he’d torn a long strip all the way around he looked at her with soft eyes. The first time Eiko had seen a true expression in his eyes that meant at least a little something of affection, “We have to have something to cover up that gash...or it’s only going to get worse......” he smiled. “You told me that yourself.....”

Eiko closed her eyes, now remembering a long gone memory.

~*~ Flashback ~*~

Eiko gazed at the large cut into his leg. “Yu, are you okay...”

Yu mumbled, “I’m fine....”

Eiko grabbed a large strip of leaf tissue gauze that she and Tatsumi had made earlier. “Here,....”

Yu, “I’m fine....let me be....”

“If we don’t cover it up, it’s only going to get worse......” Eiko again, attempted to wrap the premade band aid around his wound.

Yu sighed and stared at his feet, “Whatever, just go ahead and do it before I change my mind....”

Eiko smiled and applied the gauze about his leg....

~*~ Fade back to Reality ~*~

Eiko almost had tears in her eyes, “You remembered that?”

Yu nodded and tried to avoid from looking at her in the eyes, “Just keep that on there, you’ll feel better later......it may take a couple of days, but it won’t be as bad tomorrow......we’ll go back to Lohan and get some disinfectants and something better to cover it with, okay?”

Eiko was gazing up at him, not sure whether she had fallen in love with the nice guy she never knew, or the angry beast that had begun to be nice.

The sky had opened up now, rain pelting their skin and lightning flashes across the skies, accompanied by it’s partner, thunder.

Yu, “Okay...?” he coked his head to the side and shielded his eyes from getting any liquid in them to disturb his eyesight.

Eiko nodded and stared at the ground as he wrapped the makeshift band aid about her wrist. After a while, she had begun to gaze up at him again. He tried to focus on wrapping it about her arm, knowing that she gazed at him, he couldn’t do the same back. He just couldn’t bring himself to look up from her wrist, her english lace pigmented wrist.

Arios signaled for the others to cross over and looked about his surroundings for any signs of life. Setsuna, Dart and Tatsumi fled to where the three aforementioned stood in a shape like a triangle.

Tatsumi quickly went to Eiko, whom Yu was finishing the wrap on her wrist and tying it tightly, so that it would stay on. Then he stated, “Tell me when you need a new one...” And with that said, he strode off aside Arios. Keeping a look out for Shana, Rose, Lavitz, and Lumiale to cross.

Eiko and Tatsumi spoke softly together, conversing on the affore terms, where they could only really hear their mischievous rambling.

Eiko, “I guess he’s sorry for earlier.....”

Tatsumi, “Are you nuts, he’s displaying affection for you! Why didn’t you just jump up and kiss him or something.....?!!”

Eiko raises a sarcastic eyebrow, “Oh yeah, not that would’ve been completely idiotic.......and what would those other people say?”

Tatsumi, “So, they would understand, you both are in love!!!”

Eiko, “We are not!”

Tatsumi, “Well, you pulled one over me!”

Eiko turns crimson, “I don’t know what your talking about.......”

Tatsumi, “Mmmm-hmm.....I’ll bet you don’t....”

Yu and Arios had been conversing too, but more on the means of going through the prison.

Yu, “We’ll have too be extremely silent, and stick to the shadows.....if we go out in the open, we’ll attract way to much attention for comfort.....we’ll certainly be in a pickle then....”

Arios, “Yah, but maybe you should leave your weapons here......it’s make too much calamity and we’d loose our swiftness......”

Yu, “No...only you can fight well enough with your fists.......we need to have ours.....we can’t just leave them here either...do you know what I went through to get the oblivion? I’m not about to let this go!...”

Arios rolled his eyes, “Whatever.....anyways, what I was talking about was that it may be to harsh on Eiko.......duh....”

Yu raised his eyebrows, quite surprised at him, “She can take care of herself, and she’s not the helpless girl you grew up with.........besides, she’s done fine so far......that sword was especially made for her......”

Arios, “Whatever dude.......” He sighed and walked across the unoccupied bridge.

Eiko watched him brush past her, still examining her cloth band aid from earlier and made by Yu. “I wonder what’s his problem.....?”

Setsuna read her mind. “I’m not sure if this group is going to quite work out....it seems you can’t trust any of them........even though they appear to be quite the opposite.......” Setsuna pondered to herself as Eiko and Yu went after Arios.

They stepped over the three bodies of the dead soldiers, Eiko looking away and Yu looking straight forward, crouched in a reflexible position.

As soon as Yu and Eiko entered the prison, there wasn’t a single sign of Arios. Yu and Eiko exchanged looks and quietly continued down the hallway.

Something seemed utterly wrong to the both of them. The essence of the damp prison seemed painfully wrong.

Suddenly, a scream of horror came upon them and Eiko flew to Yu’s side. It was a scream like a banshee off one of those scary movies. Yu and Eiko stopped their pace and nervously let their eyes dart about the musty place. Eiko was trying very much not to breathe hard and clutched Yu’s arm as he continued down the hallway.

Footsteps were heard in front, behind, and from the sides of them. Eiko’s eyes grew large and she and Yu drew their weapons. The lights flickered off and Eiko gasped.

Breathing heavily, she clutched the handle and was a hair’s breadth away from Yu. She walked behind him, both in utter silence mind the heavy breathing.

There hallway curved and Yu whispered through his teeth as quietly as possible, “shh...”

Eiko nodded and closed her eyes as they hugged the corner. Yu jumped out around the curve, another person stood in front of him.

Eiko gasped and lightning illuminated their faces. Yu had his sword above his head, ready to strike.

Omni: Yay! nother spot to stop at!

Lloyd: *rolls eyes* all I’m happy about is that FF.net is now working.....

Omni: They were working on fiction press......making all the original stuff go there.....dur!

Lloyd: I know that.....you horror movie watcher....

Omni: Hey, now! *grabs a pillow* I didn’t know that Valentine and Halloween Resurrection was gonna be like that....besides......it makes for a good fic...well, now the scariness I’m hooked on, huh?

Chels: Well, who’s the guy Yu’s about to kill?

Lloyd: Mike Myers.....

Chels: * O.o* Ahh! *runs away*

Omni: that other one was scarier........

Lloyd: Just shut-up....we need to end this....

Omni: - -; fine....if you don’t want me to-

Lloyd: SHUT UP!

Omni: - -U
