Chapter ten: Death or Revival

Eiko looked down at the dragon scale in her hand then at Yu. He had a worried look on his face, but he turned away as she had looked up at him. This left Eiko to ponder why he wouldn’t look at her, “It must be because I had said something about it......well...of course that’s what it is....I sound like I’m an idiot......” she gasped. “But, wait-a-minute! If he didn’t say that his tattoo meant something else or that it wasn’t that....then....he’s....he’s an.....” she gulped. “An obit!” her mind went wild and she almost dropped the scale.

Setsuna looked down at her and said, “You......you an Yu must be the ones...”

Eiko blinked and stared up at Setsuna, “Must be the ones for what?”

Setsuna sighed and glanced over at Rose and Lavitz, and then back at Eiko. It took her a moment, she seemed to feel both saddened and agitated at the same time, “Guess.....”

Eiko had followed her eyes towards the knight and Rose and she nodded, not taking her eyes off of the site. The she gazed up at Yu for an answer. She said nothing, her eyes asking the question, yet he didn’t respond in any way, shape, or form. Eiko sighed and stared back at Setsuna, “What happens......or what will for that matter....?”

Setsuna had had her attention on the dead Rose and the shivering and emotional Lavitz. Her eyes flew to her, a few moments after her statement and then at her feet. She sighed and replied,  The two of you must use the dragon scale to revive Rose....it will drain half of both of your lives...but you will still be able to live it like you always have......if only one to revive her....only a wisp of their life will be left....being too frail and weak, they would die.....but, we can rejuvenate what is lost....”

Dart glanced up from Lavitz’s side, “Why not use an ‘Angel’s Prayer’ on Rose? It’d same time and life....and....pain...”

Setsuna shook her head, “You cannot revive one struck by that blade.....the Dragonbuster.....with a simple, over-the-counter item....”

Lavitz’s heart fell into the pit of his stomach. Would Eiko and Yu revive his beloved? The one he cared for more than anything else in his entire life?

Eiko glanced up at Yu again. She could see it. In his eyes. He was scared. Scared horrifically for his life. He wanted to say no, but he couldn’t bring himself to even move his lips.

Eiko sighed and looked at the knight, his face lined and stained with tears. He had cried and cried and was even crying now. He’d cry forever if she didn’t do something....knowing that he loved Rose more than ever and judging by what Setsuna had said she decided she do it. She’d revive Rose herself.

She stood up and looked at the people around her. Everyone of them waiting for another movement. She looked at the woman, limp in Lavitz’s arms and took a deep breath. She walked towards them, unsure of herself and unsure whether the scale would actually fulfill their wishes and hopes.

Once she had gotten to Rose, she sat down on her knees and looked down at the bloody wound in her side. The blood had stopped flowing now...but the wound spread and kept spreading, through the impulses in every being’s skin.

For some reason, what to do came to her with out her even having to look back at Setsuna.

She held the dragon scale above Rose’s head and thought simply nothing but the thoughts of giving her life away to Rose and it happened.

A blinding blue flash hit the area, brighter and warmer than what the white one had been.

            Yu’s heart raced.

            Lub-dub.

            Lub-dub.

His heartbeat went wild and slow motion fell upon them.

            Lub-dub.

            Lub-dub.

In only a few moments, Eiko would almost be dead. Dead. Yu fought with himself on what to do.

Eiko could feel the life drain from her chest and every vein and artery that had crossed paths in her bloodstream. She felt like screaming, the drain pained her. She bit her lip and clear tears slid down her cheeks.

Lavitz’s mouth dropped as he watched through the shadows of the light. Eiko was experiencing excruciating pain. Nothing that anyone could dream of would match such pain.

The light blinded him and he had to close and tighten his eyes.

When the light had fled in a dazzling array of a firework blast, everyone looked surprised at the two figures that lay beside Rose and Lavitz, both touching the scale.

Eiko felt more than a wisp of life, but she felt extremely exhausted, her eyes rolling around before she was forced to closed them. She gasped! Yu lay beside her, his hand on the scale as well. He had transferred some of his life into Rose to keep her from dying.

She feel off into a sleep.

Rose stirred, but she didn’t wake up, he chest moving in a rhythmic pattern once more. Lavitz cried out and threw his arms around her, in a massive hug.

Lumiale gasped as well and looked at Setsuna, whom had begun to take the king off the wall, “You have to be the biggest liar I’ve ever seen!”

Setsuna had unstrapped his ankles and looked up at Lumiale, “Excuse me...?”

Lumiale felt overwhelmed with both anger and happiness, “You wouldn’t have been able to revive her after that....Eiko would’ve died!!!!”

Setsuna smiled and began to unstrap one of Albert’s hands, “She would’ve....”

Lumiale raised a curious eyebrow and thought to himself for a moment, “What are you implying....?”

Setsuna grinned bigger and had undone the strap, beginning the next, “Isn’t it obvious.....Yu knew that........and he saved her.....I knew......I also knew that he would save her...and that he did.....”

            Lumiale laughed a bit, “Oh....I see now.......but what would’ve happened....if...?”

Setsuna stopped smiling, “I don’t know.....I really don’t....” The straps came loose and Albert fell on top of her, being asleep from a sort of famine, “But if you don’t get over here and help me hold him up, I’m not sure if your going to be as lucky....”
