* After removal and cleaning, these filters can be re-oiled and re-installed
over and over again. We recommend using AFO
to re-oil your air filter.
* In addition to using high quality engine oil, the secret to long
equipment life is keeping the oil clean. If the filter can't filter
out, and hold, dirt and soot eventually the oil stream circulates around
loaded up with abrasive particles that slowly cause wear in the engine.
* The graphs below shows the filter holding capacity and filter efficiency
for the new SDF 15 filter and several
other popular brands available in most reatail outlets. Which one
are you using?
* Filters for virtually any make and model car or truck, remote mount kits for full flow filters, dual by-pass filters or the application you see below.
* Installing a remote filter mount provides an opportunity to install
not a larger main,
full flow filter but a sub micron by-pass, as well thereby ensuring
the oil stream stays clean.
* A brief 'white paper' is available explaining filter efficiencies and "beta numbers." Unless you know what both figures are you don't really know how good a filter is. Your favorite brand might be claiming "99% efficiency!" but if their claim is based upon testing the filter using very large dirt particles, larger than 25 or 30 microns and most wear occurs due to particles in the 10 to 20 micron range, the oil isn't getting the filtration it needs. Likewise, find out what the beta number is for both ends of the test range. Efficiency drops off dramatically as the particle size decreases from 20 down to 10 microns and below.
The photo below shows the new remote mount holding a full flow filter
and a BE-90 by-pass filter, heavy duty brass fittings, short length of
hose and the engine mounting plate. The new by-pass mount is made
from individually machined aircraft grade aluminum billets. Burst
strengths and tolerances are 2 to 3 times better than required.
