Season 1

#1  Pilot Episode (Oct 6, 1999)
Three young alien survivors of the storied 1947 UFO crash live secretly among the residents of Roswell, N.M. First up: one of the aliens, Max, saves the life of Liz, jeopardizing his safety as well as that of his sister Isabel and their friend, Michael. The incident also heightens the local sheriff's suspicions regarding Max's involvement in the 1947 crash.

#2  The Morning After (Oct 13, 1999)
A mysterious substitute teacher probes Michael's life and Sheriff Valenti is pestered by the FBI. Meanwhile, Michael contemplates breaking into Valenti's office to steal files pertaining to the 1959 murder victim who had the same mark that appeared on Liz after Max saved her life.

#3  Monsters (Oct 20, 1999)
Isabel is concerned about Maria's nervous reactions to Sheriff Valenti, so she invades one of Maria's dreams to determine whether she can keep the aliens' secret. Meanwhile, counselor Topolsky holds career guidance sessions with the students; and Max meets a curator obsessed with finding aliens.

#4  Leaving Normal (Oct 27, 1999)
Liz's grandmother is rushed to the hospital after suffering a stroke, prompting Liz to reach out to Max for comfort. When Max arrives, Kyle tells him to stay away from his girlfriend. Meanwhile, Michael plots revenge on Kyle's friends, who assaulted Max without Kyle's knowledge; and Maria asks Isabel for help waiting tables at the Crashdown Cafe.

#5  Missing (Nov 3, 1999)
Liz's journal, which contains information about the alien trio, disappears — leading to a desperate search for the thief. Meanwhile, Topolsky's true profession is revealed.

#6  285 South (Nov 10, 1999)
Michael hijacks Maria's car — and Maria — and heads to Texas in search of the dome that he's had visions of since stealing the mysterious key from Valenti's office. Max, Isabel and Liz are quick to chase after them — but they're not the only ones in close pursuit.

#7  River Dog (Nov 17, 1999)
With Topolsky closing in on the hidden room at Atherton's dome in Texas, the gang narrowly escapes with files and a pendant that Isabel spots on a small statue. Upon returning to Roswell, Topolsky receives orders to retrieve what the kids stole using "whatever means necessary."

#8  Blood Brother (Nov 24, 1999)
Max is injured in a car accident and taken to a hospital, where a sample of his blood is drawn, forcing Michael and Liz to find a way to replace the sample with a vial of Alex's blood. After Max is discharged, Michael spies Topolsky's men rummaging through Max's hospital room.

#9  Heat Wave (Dec 1, 1999)
Unseasonably hot weather sparks romance as Michael's relationship with Maria heats up, and Kyle finds a new girlfriend — just as Liz's infatuation for Max intensifies. Elsewhere, Sheriff Valenti courts Maria's mother, who he once arrested for interfering with a structural demolition, and Isabel enters into one of Alex's dreams, only to find her likeness already there.

#10  The Balance (Dec 15, 1999)
Michael discovers a picture of the cave drawings in Max's notebook and sets out to find Riverdog, only to return home sick after participating in a Native American ritual. Meanwhile, Max and Liz go on their first date, and Alex slips up in front of Milton.

#11  The Toy House (Jan 19, 2000)
Max's mother gets a glimpse of him using his powers to put out a grease fire that threatens her life, and she begins to question his secretive nature. Meanwhile, Liz tends to Kyle after he's injured during a basketball game, which makes Max jealous; and Isabel pressures Max to reveal their secret to their mother.

#12  Into the Woods (Jan 26, 2000)
A bright flash of light in the sky is witnessed by several people in the woods near Riverdog's reservation, leading Max and Isabel to investigate the incident during a school camping trip. Liz is forced to endure the outing with her father and pays Maria to accompany them.

#13  The Convention (Feb 2, 2000)
A convention at the UFO Center attracts an alien hunter who claims to know what really happened the night of the 1972 murder that ended the career of Sheriff Valenti's father. Meanwhile, Max takes on extra duties at the center to help keep his mind off of Liz; and Maria's mother organizes a wrestling match that features a mystery performer. Jonathan Frakes appears as himself.

#14  Blind Date (Feb 9, 2000)
Liz wins a radio contest and her prize is a blind date with a guy the station selects using her criteria. The catch — the couple's activities are reported live by an annoying DJ who accompanies them. Meanwhile, Maria joins Alex's band and immediately takes over, making major changes just before an important tryout.

#15  Independence Day (Feb 16, 2000)
Michael shows up at school with a black eye after a violent encounter with his foster father. Isabel urges him to report the incident, but Michael is reluctant to draw attention to himself. Meanwhile, Maria and Liz experience an embarrassing run-in with Sheriff Valenti when they catch him making out with Maria's mother.

#16  Sexual Healing (Mar 1, 2000)
Liz and Max give in to their feelings for each other, and their kisses connect them telepathically. Liz sees images that may be Max's memories of his trip to Earth, while Max experiences visions of Liz's past. Meanwhile, Michael and Maria experiment with their own make-out sessions, and Isabel despairs in her solitude.

#17  Crazy (Apr 10, 2000)
FBI agent Topolsky returns to warn Liz that a covert alien hunter inside the Bureau is pursuing Max and his friends — and that he will stop at nothing to get what he wants. In another plotline, Isabel befriends a new female student, who immediately arouses Max and Michael's suspicions.

#18  Tess, Lies and Videotape (Apr 17, 2000)
Max develops an uncontrollable attraction to Tess that includes intense sexual daydreams, and Sheriff Valenti learns that Topolsky was killed in a suspicious fire. Meanwhile, someone has secretly placed a video camera inside Michael's apartment.

#19  Four Square (Apr 24, 2000)
Harding finds the video camera hidden in his house and gives it to Valenti. The lawman then tells Max that his safety depends upon his willingness to share information. Meanwhile, Tess reveals a personal secret to Isabel.

#20  Max to the Max (May 1, 2000)
Tess's book suggests that she and Max are predetermined mates, as are Michael and Isabel, who thinks she might be pregnant — with Michael's baby. Meanwhile, Nasedo disguises himself as Max and kidnaps Liz as part of a plan to trap FBI agent Pierce.

#21  The White Room (May 8, 2000)
Max finds himself in a white room with no windows or doors, facing questions by Agent Pierce. Isabel telepathically contacts Max, who leaves her clues to his location. Michael, Isabel and Tess then set out on a rescue mission.

#22  Destiny (May 15, 2000)
Max tells Liz everything he knows about Tess, including the fact that she may be his intended mate; Tess learns Nasedo might not have made it out of the military base. Elsewhere, Michael uses his powers in front of Sheriff Valenti.

 

 

Season 2

#23  Skin and Bones (Oct 2, 2000)
A geologist finds the buried bones of Agent Pierce and brings them to Sheriff Valenti. The lawman then tries to cover up the case, but encounters interference from an eager Deputy Hanson. Meanwhile, Nasedo discredits the Special Unit during televised Congressional hearings.

#24  Ask Not (Oct 9, 2000)
Max struggles with his new role as the sole leader of the alien quartet. Michael aggravates the situation by questioning Max's plan, which calls for them to "try to blend in." Meanwhile, Kyle returns home from football camp with a new attitude, and Max discovers that Milton has left the UFO Center.

#25  Surprise (Oct 16, 2000)
Isabel's friends throw her a surprise birthday party at the Crashdown Cafe, but a mysterious headache and hallucinations of Tess in jeopardy grip the alien teen during the festivities. Meanwhile, Liz discovers that Congresswoman Whitaker has been recording Liz's personal phone calls at work.

#26  Summer of '47 (Oct 23, 2000)
Michael interviews a WWII veteran from Roswell for a school paper and gets a firsthand account of the alien crash of 1947. Cast members portray the tale's participants in flashback segments.

#27  The End of the World (Oct 30, 2000)
Max travels back in time from the year 2014 to the present to warn Liz that their personal relationship will result in Earth's conquest by alien forces. Meanwhile, Michael begins to suspect that Courtney is not who she appears to be.

#28  Harvest (Nov 6, 2000)
Max, Liz, Isabel and Tess head to Arizona to find a secret organization called the Universal Friendship League that Congresswoman Whitaker belonged to. Meanwhile, Michael and Maria hunt for a missing Courtney.

#29  Wipeout (Nov 13, 2000)
Most of the residents of Roswell disappear after a green pulse from the sky descends on the town, leaving only the alien quartet, Courtney, Liz, Maria and the Valentis behind to solve the mystery. The situation gets worse after Liz finds evidence of a Skin in the area.

#30  Meet the Dupes (Nov 20, 2000)
After murdering their leader, aliens resembling Michael, Isabel and Tess travel to Roswell from New York to persuade Max to attend a summit with leaders from other planets. Elsewhere, Brody is attracted to Maria, whom Michael begins to take for granted.

#31  Max in the City (Nov 27, 2000)
Max and Tess travel to New York City, where Rath takes Max to meet an enigmatic individual called the Emissary, who tests Max's claim to the throne. Elsewhere, Maria tells Liz about a rumor going around school that Liz slept with Kyle.

#32  A Roswell Christmas Carol (Dec 18, 2000)
Max is haunted by the ghost of a man killed in a car accident---a man he could have saved, but didn't for fear of being exposed. Michael ponders what to get Maria for Christmas. Elsewhere, Maria discovers that Brody has a 5-year-old daughter with cancer; Isabel is overburdened with Christmas activities; and Tess learns that the Valentis are none too festive about the holiday season.

#33  To Serve and Protect (Jan 22, 2001)
Isabel suffers from nightmares depicting a girl bound, locked in a trunk and screaming for help. Sheriff Valenti is questioned about the year-old shooting of Everett Hubble. Elsewhere, Maria's cousin Sean arrives in town, fresh from a prison stint.

#34  We Are Family (Jan 29, 2001)
A judge suspends Sheriff Valenti for his actions during the investigation of a missing girl. Valenti's authority is then partially restored by an FBI agent who requires his assistance with the same case. Meanwhile, Michael finds evidence related to the disappearance that may be extraterrestrial in origin.

#35  Disturbing Behavior (Feb 5, 2001)
Laurie escapes from an ambulance on her way to a mental facility and unwillingly joins Michael and Maria, who were following her and witnessed her getaway. Meanwhile, Isabel is questioned by Agent Duff about her involvement in Laurie's case.

#36  How the Other Half Lives (Feb 19, 2001)
Maria and Michael learn that Laurie is the heir to her family's estate, which may be the reason her aunt and uncle want her to believe that she is mentally ill. Meanwhile, Kyle and Alex discover a cave full of alien crystals---that turns into a trap when the crystals seal them in.

#37  Viva Las Vegas (Feb 26, 2001)
Michael's nerves are shot, so he decides that he and Max should take a trip to Las Vegas to blow off steam. Isabel and Maria discover the boys' plan and invite themselves to go along. Then Tess, Kyle, Liz and Alex hear the news and join the road trip.

#38  Heart of Mine (Apr 16, 2001)
Max and Liz agree to go to the prom together as friends, while Michael tells Maria that the festive event is "totally bogus." Isabel considers asking Alex to the dance and Kyle sets his sights on taking Tess.

#39  Cry Your Name (Apr 23, 2001)
Jim Valenti breaks the news to the aliens and their friends that Alex was killed in a car accident. Max attempts to revive the teen, but his efforts fail. The group is then forced to deal with the loss of their friend. Maria and Isabel respond emotionally, but Liz remains oddly stoic.

#40  It's Too Late, and It's Too Bad (Apr 30, 2001)
Liz continues her investigation into Alex's death and she enlists Sean's help in breaking into the school guidance counselor's office, where she makes a photocopy of Alex's personal file. Meanwhile, Isabel tells Max that she received a letter from a college that she hopes to attend in the fall.

#41  Baby, It's You (May 7, 2001)
Max and Tess disclose the new level of their relationship to their friends, but it's the alien leader who gets the real surprise when he learns that Tess is pregnant---with his child. Meanwhile, Maria discovers that Alex never left New Mexico for his alleged trip to Sweden. Pop singer Nelly Furtado and centerfold Jodi Ann Paterson appear as themselves.

#42  Off the Menu (May 14, 2001)
An electrical shock knocks out power throughout Roswell, causing Brody to recall his alien abductions. The frantic man then takes Max, Tess, Maria and her family hostage at the UFO Center. Michael and Isabel come looking for Max...and stumble into the crisis.

#43  The Departure (May 21, 2001)
The second season ends as the aliens prepare the Granilith for the journey to their home planet. Max and his pals are left with only 24 hours to say their goodbyes to their families and friends in a series of emotional encounters.

 

 

Season 3

 

#44  Busted (Oct. 9, 2001)
Max and Liz are arrested for armed robbery in the third-season opener of this sci-fi drama, which makes its debut on UPN.  The young lovers are caught when they hold up a convenience store in order to gain access to the storage facility beneath it, where they believe the ship that brought Max to Earth is hidden. In the subsequent hearing, Max's father handles their defense, but Liz's parents lose confidence after a discussion with the prosecutor. Two juxtaposed chronologies detail both Max and Liz's legal battles and the events leading up to the holdup, including how they acquired the ship's key.

#45  Michael, the Guys and the Great Snapple Caper (Oct. 16, 2001)
Michael works as a security guard, but when he tries to loosen up his co-workers, he causes more harm than good. Meanwhile, Max and Liz continue to see each other despite her parents' wishes.

#46  Significant Others (Oct. 23, 2001)
Liz learns a secret from her father's past that casts her relationship with Max in a new light; Isabel and Jesse make a decision about their future; Maria is angry that Michael spends so much time with his new friends.

#47  Secrets and Lies (Oct. 30, 2001)
Jonathan Frakes and John Billingsley make guest appearances as themselves on this episode of the sci-fi drama series.  When Max learns that there might still be a shape-shifter living on Earth, he heads to Los Angeles to track it down, hoping it will provide some assistance in his efforts to contact his son. Max's quest to identify the alien leads him to Paramount Studios...and an encounter with Frakes and Billingsley. Also, Isabel balks at Jesse's suggestion that she inform her parents of their engagement; and Kyle learns more about his father's troubled relationship with his grandfather.

#48  Control (Nov 6, 2001)
Relying on his alien powers, Max forces an alien shape-shifter to help him locate the spaceship that brought them to Earth. Back in Roswell, Isabel and Jesse face negative reactions from friends and family about their upcoming nuptials.
