7-22-02 I don’t mind when people write me debunking articles that I’ve written and added to my site. In fact, I like it. It lets me find weaknesses in my arguments; it’s useful if I ever want to revise. However, it seems like 9 out of 10 responses I get are horribly written and do a terrible job of debunking what I've written. For example, I get a lot of responses to my "Is The Christian God Logical?" article. Almost ALL of them have only this to say: God seems illogical because you’re using the logic of a finite man. Damn, what the hell am I supposed to use? The logic of a finite rock? When people try to use that as an argument, do they not realize it does more damage to their cause? If we can't understand their god with our minds, there’s no way to know anything about it. They strip themselves of the ability to know their god, to know what they’re worshiping, to even have the ability to "know" it is real. It’s annoying, some of them will spend a tremendous amount of time typing some five or six page response. It seems like they all repeat the same things (thinking that it disproves atheism). I could summarize most of them like this: Hi, I read your article and I’d like to say blah, blah, blah, circular reasoning, blah, blah, blah, more circular reasoning, blah, blah, a brazen display of scientific ignorance, blah, blah, carbon dating is only accurate up to 2,000 years, blah, blah. If God isn’t real how did we get here? blah, blah, blah, The human eye, blah, evolution can’t cause an eye, blah, evolution is like saying a watch suddenly appeared in working condition, blah, blah. You’re going to hell. |
