This page is still under construction.

You can record digital files without investing in a recorder. You may already have the necessary equipment.

OK, you will have to invest in a microphone, but microphones are cheap, cheap, cheap.

Plug the microphone in the Mic port in the back of your Windows XP computer.

Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Sound Recorder.

Click on the circle when you're ready to start recording. Click on the square when you're through. To save the file, click on File, SaveAs. The default WAV setting is fine.

We will transcribe that file. See how to send it to us elsewhere in this website.

OK, this method doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a good handheld recorder. It may also have a time limit of about a minute or so.

However, after you use this for a while and see its advantages, you may want to upgrade.
