A close encounter with a tractor-trailer back in January caused me to have a lot of spare time on my hands. It also left me flat on my back and out of work for three months. I purchased a Webtv Classic so I could surf the web from the comfort of my couch. Little did I know at the time it would lead me to creating these pages. Yes, this entire site was built using Webtv. I have been paddling for about eleven years now. My first boat was a I still have my trusty Folbot and some day I keep promising myself I am going to make a full sail rig for it. My present boat is a Pisces by The accident left me high and dry. It is now the beginning of June and I just don't know when I will be able to paddle again. To all my fellow paddler's I pray you keep your decks up, your keels down and your
Summer has come and gone and for me it absolutely sucked. I got to endure countless hours of physical therapy while all my friends were out enjoying themselves. If one more person reminds me that I have a drysuit and so I can paddle in the cold months I'm going to take said drysuit and wrap it around their necks!
It is now October 15 and I have yet to get my boat wet. Not only that but I got more bad news. Since around the time of the accident I have been complaining of pain in my right leg. The doctors attributed it to a bulging disc pressing down on a nerve root. Have just found out I have, at the ripe old age of 43, hardening of the arteries. The femural artery of my right leg is blocked and there is another blockage further up by my right hip. Instead of returning to work tomorrow the 16th as originaly planned I have to go in for surgery on the 19th. I will then be facing another 2-3 month recovery period.Maybe I should have sold my boat when I had the chance back in June. It looks like I wont be needing the drysuit if all my paddling is going to be in cyberspace.
