GLOVES AND GAUNTLETS If you are wearing a contemporary gown, you may decide not to wear gloves but they can look elegant with a period gown. Choices can include stretch satin, taffeta or lace. The glove length you choose depends on your gown. Short-sleeved or strapless gowns allow more options and you may choose a glove which covers the whole arm. Look for glove styles that economise design elements of your gown - ruffles, pearls, beading. Another look, for brides, is the gauntlet - this covers the wrist and arm but not the hand and usually are in lace. While many brides love strapless gowns, they sometimes feel they should cover-up during a Church ceremony. You can choose a Bolero in the same fabric as your gown, or a Cape. The Cape can be a whisper or gauze or something a little more structured, such as a pearled or beaded cape If you are having an informal day-time wedding and want to wear the same outfit for the wedding and going-away, think about a jacket colour co-ordinated with your dress........and look stunning. |
