Contents Harmony for your Wedding Day with aspects of Feng Shui |
Feng Shui is used to bring harmony into our lives and surrounds. As such, it will attract and enhance life energy around us. One cannot really have a Feng Shui wedding, but using various symbols and items, we can balance our surroundings and be more relaxed on our special day. This Newsletter will offer a few tips and ideas for the bride, and for the reception area, which incorporate some Feng Shui theories, in a fun and uncomplicated way. |
You are ready to choose the date to become man and wife. Find an auspicious date so you have favourable elements for the occasion. A Feng Shui expert can help you determine special dates suitable to you both as a couple, by knowing which are the good and bad dates, and checking to see what does and does not clash with the couple's birth animals. You might find that many are not a Saturday, so your wedding ceremony could be held during the week, which in turn might make finding a reception venue easier. |
As marriage energy transfers from person to person, you (the bride) might like to get your "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" from people with happy marriages. A lacy fan is a lucky and fashionable accessory for a bride to carry over her wrist. |
If your wedding gown is white, then think about adding a splash of red somewhere for good luck. Perhaps wear a red garter, red underwear, or even ask the car-driver to wear a red bow-tie. Red in some shade, from pinks to deep red, could be tied as a ribbon, to a fan, your bouquet, or the jewellery at your neckline could be in red stones. |
Crystal brings wedding luck, as it is a celestial cure and reflects light. Consider crystal beading on the bodice or top of your gown. To strive for harmony, good energy and beauty, when choosing a wedding veil, look for one that has clear crystal drops around the edge. |
If your bridal theme suits, then look to bouquets in red, or pink of some shade. Red is for passion and pink for sensuality and romance. Fresh or silk flowers are better than using dried flowers. |
Small paper fans make lovely keepsakes and they can be used as unique place cards on reception tables. Maybe the names could be written in a red ink for extra harmony. Small paper fans can be bought inexpensively, and have red tassles, tulle, ribbon, etc tied on the bottom. |
For extra luck, consider having photographs taken underneath crystal chandeliers at your reception, and use crystal glasses for bridal party toasts. |
Chandeliers hanging in the reception venue, will also help draw people together and help conversations to flow. |
No matter how simple or extravagant your wedding ceremony and venue is; whether you are having a traditional, modern, or a special themed occasion, there are ways of introducing a little red here and there for good luck. |
Think about surrounding the wedding cake with fresh red rose petals. Perhaps the napkin holders at each place-setting can be red beads threaded on wire. Even using a very thin red or some shade of pink ribbon on white/ivory napkins would be good. Another idea could be to place red tea-light candle holders on each table. Have some fresh or silk red or pink flowers in small white vases as table centre-pieces. |
Fresh flowers keep the room energy refreshed and flowing. Flowers need to be in each corner of the reception room to sooth emotional waters. Place beautiful arrangements in corners adjacent to the entrance wall to further enhance harmony. Place a tall dramatic floral arrangement on a reception table, where the "table-map" of guest's seating is situated. Have this table close to the front of the hall and centred along the front wall facing the entrance. A tall arrangment will draw guests to that table and encourage them to find their place and start filling the room. |
When checking out reception venues, for your wedding feast and celebration, keep in mind that pale pastel wall colours radiate the best Feng Shui, and give out harmonious energy. If you are in a cool climate area, look to pale peach, apricot, terracotta, lemon, yellow or pink tones for a cheerful feel. In warm climates, cream is better than white, and pale green, turquoise, blue and lavendar are good choices. |
Good lighting is essential, and aim to have circular or oval tables around the room for guest-seating. |
Reception venues with mirrors, water features, crystal, pale pastel wall colours, perhaps windchimes, chandeliers, candles, lots of fresh flowers will all enhance the harmonious feel you seek to have on this, your special day. |
The bridal table should, ideally, be in the western section of the room, facing east. This encourages diplomacy which is essential in marriages and at weddings. As part of any arrangments on the bridal table, there needs to be pairs of flowers, to signify "partnership". |
Set the scene with your wedding invitations and stationary. Red ribbons or flowers, on invitations, bombonniere and place cards, make a lovely statement and it is such an elegant look. |
These are just ideas, to bring to your wedding day, the harmony of Feng Shui. What you choose to use is ultimately your own choice. |
