**The Encore Bride

People marrying for at least the 2nd time, could be aged anywhere from early 20's to 80's, and many after 30 could be on a 3rd or 4th marriage. The styles of gowns chosen, would be varied within those age-groups.  Just remember it's your 2nd time to shine and one great bonus is that you are older, wiser, and more experienced this time.  Leave the "bride-y" gowns to the 1st time brides and choose something less formal the 2nd (or more) time.
What to wear - -
wear what you are comfortable with - a sheath, an A-line, a ball-gown, a suit, maybe in off-white, pearl, ivory, pink, soft lemon, or some other pastel.
If you wish to wear white, go ahead.  Its a colour of joy and celebration.
It is not the colour white that some would think not suitable, so much as the style of garment you choose to wear.
Look for something feminine, simple, elegant, dressy, perhaps that you can wear again for some other special occasion.
Length would be your choice given the time of day, and whether formal or informal.
Forget about long trains and long veils, as they are really for a first time bride.
Wearing a veil is a personal choice, but a shorter style not  covering the face would be more appropriate.  Some tulle or short piece of veiling attached to a small headpice, or a hat would be fine.

(here on right is a lovely choice of gown for a younger person re-marrying.  No train, no veil, just a beautiful all-over-lace dress - very simple and feminine.)
Watch the formality of your choice with the time of day of your ceremony.
Morning wedding would require different attire to late afternoon or evening.  Age, personal style, and whether you want a large or small intimate wedding would have some bearing on your garment choice.

A younger 2nd-time bride might choose something that looks very much a bride, whereas older brides might choose something more sophisticated, and elegant.

A dressy suit or street-length dress with a simple corsage or a small bouquet is traditional, with your attendant dressed along similar lines and your groom and his attendant in a suit.
Keep the theme simple -- you don't need ushers or lots of bridesmaids.  Your attendants need a simple style.

Ask your florist to create a wonderful bouquet arrangement to complement your gown and formality of your wedding theme.
** Etiquette for an Encore Bride

When planning your day, keep in mind the thoughts of children of both parties, previous in-laws, etc.  Divorce is painful to go through, but many re-marrying couples would be widows, or  widowers, and you may want your wedding to be very different to the first.

By all means, have children included if you wish.  Most would be delighted to read, sing, or help in some special way.  No need to be "given away" if widowed or divorced, and that part of the ceremony can be left out.
Children   could escort you to the altar, and stand nearby during the vows.

Keep your day small and simple.  Maybe a religious ceremony with family and close friends, and have a reception for a wider circle of friends.
To announce your day, a personal note to guests can take the place of formal invitations.

You may wish to be married in a place of great sentiment to you both.  Maybe a park, garden, hotel,or resort and have guests gather around you, as a couple.  Sign the register in front of them as well.

At the reception you don't need a lot of the 1st-time wedding formality, but make sure you have do include  a cake.  Decorate simply without the bride and groom on top.

Whatever you decide to do, for you both as a couple, will be fine.
