Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Change of Heart

Season 6 Episode 16

Plot Summary: Worf and Dax land in a jungle, planning to rendezvous with a Cardassian who wants to defect from the Dominion. He has vital information about the founders. Eventually Dax is severely injured in a Jem'Hadar attack and Worf goes onward to complete the mission, but his love for Dax causes him to give up the rendezvous and bring his wife back home to safety.

Sub-Plot: Quark has had a winning streak at tongo, and Bashir challenges him in hopes to break it. But when Quark distracts him with memories of Dax, and how he lost his chance to have her, Bashir loses his concentration, and with it the game.

My Opinion: This was a good episode, nothing to spectacular, but enjoyable nonetheless. The plot was predictable, yet executed very well. The characters of Worf and Dax really worked well together. I had not seen this type of chemistry between them yet. This episode also had some nice visual effects: the asteroid field and the runabout landing in the jungle. Overall I liked this episode very much, there just wasn't anything too impressive in it.

Wrap-Up: "Change of Heart" had good acting, a bunch of great moments and some nice visual effects, but overall it wasn't all that impressive. It was, however, a very good episode. I give it three stars.
