Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Behind the Lines

Season 6 Episode 4

Plot Summary: The female changeling comes to DS9 distracting Odo, and causing him to neglect his duty to Kira and the resistance. When Damar figures out how to shut down the minefield, and Rom tries to stop him, Odo's irresponsibility gets Rom arrested.

Sub-Plot: Sisko is promoted to be Admiral Ross' assistant, leaving Dax in charge of the Defiant. My Opinion: This was beautifully done! I was kept satisfied from the opening scene all the way to the closing scene! I found it refreshing to see an episode with a main plot that took place on the station. I also loved the acting in this episode! some of the best examples were: Quark joining the resistance meeting in a drunken stupor and Kira and Damar building the tension between themselves. I thought Damar was great! He had some great moments with both Kira and Quark. I also enjoyed the performance of Rene Auberjonois. This whole episode really let the plot thicken, plunging the characters into a tough situation that I wasn't sure who the writers were going to solve. The realization of the consequences or Odo's actions unnerved me. I've never enjoyed being unnerved before!

Wrap-Up: Wow! "Behind the Lines" was incredibly great! The acting was superb, and the story was dark and fun! Despite the fact that this episode needed what came before and after it, it was good enough to gain three and a half stars!
