Bessie Ambrose Edens

Bessie Ambrose Edens-Regent 1928--

Mrs. J. Wesley Edens, Regent 1928–, (Bessie Ambrose Edens) is a great-great-great granddaughter of Joseph Ambrose I who was born in Bedfordshire, England, 1725; came to America in 1762; died in the battle of Guilford Court House. She is a great-great granddaughter of Joseph Ambrose II who enlisted in the Pack Horse service at the age of 15 and three years later enlisted in regular army and was present at the surrender of Corwallis. She is a daughter of Joseph Delaware Ambrose (Ky.) And Addie Jane Ewbank (Ky.), who came to Texas soon after her birth. She married J. Wesley Edens of Corsicana, June 15, 1905. Children: J Wesley Edens, Jr., and Joseph Ambrose Edens.

During the few months that have passed under this administration four new members have been added, making a total of 30. The chapter has bought a “trailer” which is being shown at one of our picture shows; has offered a history medal in junior high school; has finished paying for a chair in Constitution Hall; has sent in national dues plus suggested quota for National Library and for Memorial for Founders; has sent in state dues plus suggested 40 cents per member for Manual; etc.; has contributed $25.00 towards scholarship for Teachers’ Normal at Canyon

We are making plans for taking part in the conservation work by planting a number of trees this year.

We have regular monthly meetings, good programs, and one or two social events planned, and hope to have a steady growth during future years.
