THE PHOEBE GAYLORD HOMEPAGE

This is the GAILLORD (Gaylord) lineage of my ancestors. I hope you enjoy reading about them!

PHOEBE GAYLORD (11/19/1767-10/5/1852) married LEVI FRISBIE, SR. on December 20, 1786. You may read more about LEVI FRISBIE, SR. and his family on their own page. Just follow the link at the bottom of the page.
PHOEBE GAYLORD was a participant in a thrilling story. She was the daughter of Lieutenant AARON GAYLORD who was killed July 3, 1778 in the Wyoming Valley Massacre, now in the vicinity of present Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, but then a part of Connecticut. After the death of AARON, his wife CATHERINE COLE, with her three young children, one of whom was PHOEBE, made her way back through the forests to her home in Bristol.
DAR Patriot Index, p. 263, has an entry for AARON GAYLORD and credits CATHERINE COLE with patriotic service in Connecticut, giving her dates as b. 11-28-1745, d. 1840. PHOEBE GAYLORD is credited with patriotic service in Pennsylvania. This source and the 1926 Genealogy have Phoebe's date of death as 10-5-1852, but the year on her gravestone in Darling Cemetery is 1851. The grave has been marked by the local DAR chapter.

Gaylord, solicitor for the Towanda Chamber of Commerce, completed his drive to raise money for the Towanda band Saturday and turned in $120. I don't know where he fits in but will keep looking.
