This is EDMUND HANKINSON'S home page. The HANKINSONS came fron England, but the name originated in Scandanavia. These are more of CATHY EDDY WEED'S ancestors. All names in capital letters are my ancestors. A very nice gentleman sent me more information on our family. He has traced the HANKINSONS back to 1519. We had information only up to JEAN HANKINSON. I. EDMUND HANKINSON (b. 1519) was born in Kirkham, Lancashire, England. He married ANNES HESTON (b. 1523) on May 10, 1544. ANNES HESTON was born in Kirkham, Lancashire, England.
II. EDMUND HANKINSON (b. 1545) was born in Kirkham, Lancashire, England. He married ANN DOBSON (b. 1544) on July 19, 1562 in Kirkham, Lancashire, England. She was christened on July 21, 1544 in Kirkham, Lancashire, England. Her father was WILLIAM DOBSON who married ELLEN WOOD on February 3, 1544 in Kirkham, Lancashire, England.
III. WILLIAM HANKINSON (b. 1569) was born in Kirkham, Lancashire, England. He was christened on October 12, 1569 in Kirkham, Lancashire, England. He married JENET HARISON (b. 1579) who was born in Kirkham, Lancashire, England. She was christened on May 17, 1579 in Kirkham, Lancashire, England. Her father was WILLIAM HARRISON who married ELIZABETH BRADLEY on July 16, 1576 in Kirkham, Lancshire, England.
IV. WILLIAM HANKINSON (b. 12/15/1600) was born in Kirkham, Lancashire, England married JENET.
V. WILLIAM HANKINSON (b. 1622) was born in Kirkham Lancashire, England. He was christened on September 22, 1622 in Kirkham, Lancshire, England.
VI. THOMAS HANKINSON (1645-9/1692) was born in Kirkham, Lancashire, England. He was christened on November 22, 1645 in Lancashire, England. He married JANE JEAN RODERICK (1650-10/1692) on January 6, 1667 in Kirkham, Lanacashire, England. JANE RODERICK was born in Middlesex, England. She was the daughter of DAVID RODERICK. She was baptized on March 16, 1653 in Worthen, Shropshire, England. She died in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey.
JANE HANKINSON came to America in March of 1683 into Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She came with her three sons THOMAS (11), Peter (9), and Richard (7). JANE HANKINSON and her three sons were indentured servants to Thomas Warne. JANE HANKINSON and Peter Hankinson were alive in 1700 when Thomas Warne died. According to the contract of the indentureship, JANE HANKINSON , THOMAS HANKINSON, Peter Hankinson, and Richard Hankison were promised 40 acres each at the end of their servitude. As JANE HANKINSON and Peter were deceased, THOMAS HANKISON and Richard Hankison received their own share plus that of the their deceased mother and brother for a total of 120 acres. Records later show that THOMAS HANKINSON sold this property.
We have not found how or when THOMAS HANKINSON arrived in America. We don't think he ever made it here. THOMAS HANKINSON and JANE RODERICK had three children:
1. THOMAS R. HANKINSON (1672-1731) married ELIZABETH MANSON (1689-1725) in 1704 in East New Jersey in America. His second wife was Alsey Ashton (b. 1675) who he married in 1725. THOMAS HANKINSON was born in Middlesex, England. He moved to New Jersey in 1724. He died in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He is buried in Topanemus Buriel, Marlboro, New Jersey. ELIZABETH MANSON died in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Her father was AARON MANSON who married ELIZABETH. THOMAS HANKINSON and ELIZABETH MANSON had eight children:
11. William Hankinson (1706-11/17/1785) was born in Monmouth County, New Jersey. He died in Freehold, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. His first wife was Mary Evilman. William Hankison and Mary Evilman had three children:
111. Lydia Hankinson (b. 1740) married John Hampton on March 9, 1761 in Nomnouth County, New Jersey. Lydia Hankison and John Hampton were born in Monmouth County, New Jersey. They had four children:

112. Mary Hankinson (d. 1800) married ? Van Court. She died in Lower Freehold Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey.

William Hankinson then married Dorothy Cox in 1720 in New Jersey. William Hankinson and Dorothy Cox had three children:
114. William Hankinson, Jr. (1724-9/1/1746) was born in Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He had one son:

115. Ann Hankinson (10/14/1726-6/6/1761) married Joseph Taylor (3/19/1722/23-12/19/1777) on February 26, 1746/47 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. She was born in Freehold, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Ann Hankinson and Joseph Taylor had six children:

116. Catherine Hankinson (b. 1730) married Daniel Cooper, Jr. on April 13, 1751 in New Jersey. Catherine Hankinson was born in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Daniel Cooper was born in Morris Township, New Jersey.
12. Thomas R. Hankinson, Jr. (1707-9/1783) was born in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He died in Monmouth County, New Jersey. He married Helana Anderson (5/6/1706-2/19/147/48) in 1728 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. She was born in Monmouth County, New Jersey and is buried in Topanemus Burying Ground, Marlboro Township, New Jersey. Thomas Hankinson, Jr. and Helana Anderson had seven children:
121. James Hankinson (b. 1731) married Ann Dennis on May 26, 1757 in the Shrewsbury P.E Church, Monmouth County, New Jersey. James Hankinson then married Elizabeth Throckmorton (b. 2/1745/46). James Hankison and Elizabeth Throckmorton had two children:

122. Kenneth Hankinson (1/24/1730/31-10/28/1807) was born in Freehold, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He married Nelly Eleanor Covenhoven (3/12/1737/38-7/19/1802) on May 25, 1757 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. She was born in Old Tennant C, Tennant, New Jersey. 13. Robert Hankinson (1708-1769) married Sarah Taylor (1715-1774) on January 8, 1733/34 in Lower Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Robert hankinson was born in Cover of Cork, Ireland. Sarah Taylor was born in Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. They both died in Monmouth County, New Jersey. They had six children:

14. Ann Hankinson (12/6/1709-6/30/1761) married Jacob Mattison (11/16/1709-12/7/1804) on Januray 13, 1730/31 in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. They were both born in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey and are buried in Pleasnt Ridge Cemetery, Reaville, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. They had nine children:
141. Elizabeth Mattison (b. 12/4/1731) married John Anderson on June 24, 1751. She was born in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey.
142. Mary Mattison (1/2/1733/34-12/31/1754) marreid James Stout (b. 1728) in 1750. Mary Mattison was born and died in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. James Stout was born in Cloverhill, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. They had two children:

15. JOSEPH HANKINSON (3/27/1712-9/12/1783) married RACHAEL MATTISON (11/2/1707-3/28/1784) on February 15, 1732 in Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. JOSEPH HANKINSON and RACHAEL MATTISON were both born in Freehold, New Jersey, and they are both buried in the Hankinson Voorhees or Voorhees Cemetery, Rowland Mills, New Jersey.
