        1457. Andrew Allen Swagler (9/8/1873-3/9/1943) was born in Milton Township, Wayne County, Ohio, and died in Barberton, Ohio. He is buried in the Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
        His obituary reads as follows: Andrew Allen Swagler died Saturday night at his home on 275 Third Street, NW. He was a native of Rittman, he had lived in Barberton for 22 years and was a member of the Moore Memorial United Brethern Chruch.
        He leaves his wife, Minnie; three daughters, Mrs. Emma Loucks of Akron and Allynn and Margueriter of Barberton; one stepson, W. J. Clark of Rittman; eight granchildren and two brothers, C. E. and M. D. Swagler of Seville.
        Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two at the Campfield-Hickman Memorial Chapel with Rev. Guy F. hartman of Moore Memorial Church officiating. Burial was in Seville.
        He went to school, at what was called the Swagler School. After his mother married, he lived with his, Aunt Lynn Davidson. He worked at a variety of jobs. At one time ha had a resturant at Warwick. He loved to go fishing and hunting. He told of hunting rabbits, with a stick on the way to school. That was probably when he lived with his aunt. He died of cancer of the mouth and throat.
        He married Minnie Elizabeth Halliwell (8/5/1872-10/14/1965), daughter of Levi Halliwell and Mary Frances Spice, on December 26, 1899, in Cleveland, Ohio. Minnie was born and died in Seville, Ohio. She is buried in the Mound Hill Cemetery, in Seville, Ohio.
        Minnie was a dressmaker. She kept a diary when she lived in Cleveland, with her mother. The highest price she charged for a dress was $3.75. Dresses were very fancy in 1898. Some of the prices for food were, bread-5 cents a loaf, milk-.03, Easter candy and a basket-.40, car fare-.10, stockings-.25, soap-.20, meat-.10, rubbers-.50, and a silk skirt-$5.00.

        Minnie made all of her children's clothes. She was excellent seamstress. She had her training from a Mrs. Redman in Seville, Ohio. She made her home with Andrew and Marguerite Bauer. She died of old age, at the Rosy Rae Rest Home in Seville, Ohio. She went to the rest home while Marguerite was in the hopital in January of 1965. Their children were:

        14571. Emma Amanda Swagler. Emma was born in Wayne County, Ohio. She resided in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and worked as a clerk at Woolworth, Five and dime for many years. She eventually became a layout clerk and traveled around to the different stores.
        When Emma was about five years old, her mother took a kettle of boiling water off the stove, to take it outdoors to dress a chicken. Emma came running in and hit the kettle and the water spilled on her arm. Dad ran to get a neighbor lady and she came and said some words over Emma and put out the burn in her arm. Emma said, she didn't know where they were living at the time.
        Emma married Milo Ross Richey on July 26, 1918, in Wayne County, Ohio. Milo was born in Doylestown, Wayne County, Ohio. They had two children:
        145711. Robert Howard Richey married Shirley Hazel Hobson (10/16/1921-1/17/1972) on May 23, 1943, in Akron, Summit County, Ohio. Bob was born in Doylestown, Wayne County, Ohio. Bob served in the Army in World War II, in Europe. Shirley was born in Akron, Summit County, Ohio. She is buried in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Summit County, Ohio. Bob and Shirley had two children:
        1457111. Gail Diane Richey married David A. Miller on January 14, 1967. Gail was born in Bargerton, Summit County, Ohio. They had two children:

        1457112. Gary Lynn Richey married Marilyn E. Hall on October 14, 1972. They had three children:

        Bob then married Ruth Mary Parham Schurman on November 25, 1976, in Akron, Ohio. Ruth is the daughter of Eugene and Beulah Boatwright Parham. She was a school teacher and is now retired.

        145712. Gloria Irene Richey married John Harry Barth (11/2/1918-5/16/1990) on July 8, 1945. Gloria was born in Barberton, Summit County, Ohio. John was the son of Harry Emil and Ella Marie Brahmstedt Barth. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. In 1950 he was called back to service in the US Air Force and sent to Hawaii, as a Navigator. Gloria, Susan, and Marie went to Hawaii in December of 1950. Then came a tour of duty in San Antonia, Texas. Janet was born there. In 1955, John was sent to McGuire Air Base. They lived in Mt. Holly, New Jersey. In August 1956, they moved to Denver, Colorado. At that time John, was with Nuclear Weapons. In June of 1957, they moved to Spokane, Washington, where he served in the Weapons field, at Deep Creek Air Force Base, until July of 1959, when he went with Gen. Barton's crew, as a navigator to Tachipawa Air Force Base in Japan. Gloria and the girls were in Japan for three years. In 1962 they were sent to Battle Creek, Michigan. From there to Hamilton Air Force Base in California. In 1965 he was ordered to Maeaza Air Force Base in Quebec, Canada. In 1967 they were in Colorado Springs, Colorado. John retired in September of 1969, with the rank of Lt. Colonel. They built a house in Napa, California. John drew the plans and did most of the building of the house, with Gloria's help. John died in Napa, California. They had three children:
        1457121. Susan Barth was born in York, Nebraska. She married Randall Eaton Jeffery on June 25, 1966. They divorced in 1974. They had two children:

        1457122. Marie Barth was born in York, Nebraska. She married Bennet Barry Fink on October 24, 1968, in Pala Alto, California. They divorced in 1977. Barry was born in Far Rockway, New York. They had two children:

        Emma then married Samuel Lucks (b. 12/1/1903). Samuel died in Cleveland, Ohio. They had one child:

        145713. Donna Jean Marjorie Loucks married Maurice Wiseman in 1943, in Akron, Ohio. They divorced in 1974. Maurice was born in Kenmore, Ohio. Donna was born in Barberton, Ohio. They had two children:

        1457132. Kathleen Wiseman was born in Akron, Ohio. She married Terry Richard Edwards on July 12, 1969, in Akron, Ohio. They divorced in 1976. Kathy and Terry had two children:

        She then married Robert James Campbell, who is the son of Robert and Lou Campbell.

        Donna then married Henry Pawlak on June 27, 1977. Hank owned Henry's Music Store in Cuyahoga Fall and Barberton. He is now retired. He writes music. He composed a march for the Inventors Hall Of Fame. He was asked to write one for the City of Barberton's Centennial, which took place in 1991, which he has completed.

        14572. Allynn Elizabeth Swagler was born in Seville, Medina County, Ohio. She moved from Philadelphia, Pennyslvania to Stockton, California in 1989. She had one daughter:
        145721. Elizabeth Jane Swagler. Elizabeth married Ronald James Iler on October 24, 1942, in St. Augustine Church in Barberton, Ohio. Elizabeth was born in Barberton, Summit County, Ohio. Ronald was born in Dunkirk, Ohio.
        Elizabeth was always called Betty. Her grandparents, Allen and Minnie Swagler, adopted her. Betty worked at Goodyear Aircraft at Akron, Ohio. After the war Betty and Ronald moved to California and she worked for Sharpe Army Depot as an Auditor. Then she worked as a Deputy Sherrif for the County of Joaquin.
        Ronald was the son of Samuel H. and Helen D. Beck Iler. He graduated from Barberton High School in 1939. He worked at the Diamond Match Company in Barberton, as a Apprentice Machinist, then at Westinghouse Navel Ordiance at Canton, Ohio. He served from November 24, 1942 to January 3, 1945, in World War II. He was a Sgt. in the the 13th. Armored Division 124 Engineers. They moved to California in 1946. He worked up to General Foreman in the machinist Deptartment of Defense, Machine Tool Rebuilding Rough and Ready Island, Stockton, California. Ronald retired on December 30, 1977. They adopted two children:
        1457211. Mary Margeret Iler married Michael Badway on February 8, 1986 in Stockton, California.
        1457212. David James Iler was born in Stockton and is an IRS agent.

        She married William J. Beal on February 4, 1929 and divorced on July 9, 1938. William was born in Creston, Ohio. She them married Angel Lopez Villanueva (2/23/1906-7/9/1982) on August 8, 1956. Angel was born in Spain and died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a sailor.

        14573. Marguerite Kathyrn Swagler was born in Milton Township, Wayne County, Ohio. She resided in Seville, Medina County, Ohio.
        When Marguerite was three, her family moved to Doylestown. She started to school there, and then moved to Barberton in 1921, and lived there until she was married. She worked for the city of Barberton, first as their first switchboard operator and then in the Utilities Office as a clerk bookkeeper until she married Andy.
        Marguerite went to Missouri on June 15, 1944. She left Akron at 9:15 am. She arrived in Neosho at nine am the next morning. They took the bus to Joplin and went to the boarding house where Andy had reserved a room. She changed her clothes and went back to the bus station. Andy didn't show up until after three pm. They were going to go to Miami, Oklahoma to be married, but the bus had left. They found out that they could get married in Kansas with out a blood test. Her blood test hadn't come back before leaving home.
        They got a taxi to the state line of Kansas. Because of the gas shortage that was as far as he could go. He had called another taxi to meet them there and that driver took them to Columbus, Kansas.
        By the time they got there, the courthouse had closed, so the taxi drive took them to the home of the Probate Judge. The Judge took them back to the courthouse to get their license. He said they could come back that evening and he would marry them or they could get a minister. Marguerite was too tied to look for a minister.
        She changed to her wedding dress and they got a taxi to take them to a greenhouse for a corsage, then back to the judge's house. When they got there, he was marrying another couple. They got marrid about a quarter of nine. They walked back up town and got to the resturant just before they closed. All they could get was cold cuts and potato salad. Some wedding supper! They were in Joplin a week and then Andy found a room in Neosho. He didn't have to get up so early then. Marguerite stayed until he went back to Camp Maxey. He had heard that the 99th Division was going over seas, so he sent a telegram and said he wanted to come back and go with them. He got his orders to come back. Marguerite left for home. He was home on furlough about a week after she got home. That was in September of 1944.
        When Andy went over seas, Marguerite got a job at the Goodyear Aircraft in the Accounts Payable Office.
        After the war they bought a house in Seville, Ohio, where they lived for twelve years and then built a house on Rawiga Road. Their son Tom was married in 1969 and their son Joe entered the Air Force the same year. Their son Bill was living at Kent State University. It was then that Marguerite could spend some time on genealogy. She took a class on genealogy at Akron University.
        Marguerite complied the Bauer History in 1979. The Swagler History was finished and printed in 1985. She now has a computer and Roots 3 Genealogy Program. She says it is much easier to write the family history on the computer.
        Marguerite married Andrew William Bauer on June 16, 1944 in Columbus, Kansas. He is the son of Joseph Robert and Gladys Clara Connell Bauer. He was born in Norton Township, Summit County, Ohio. He retired in 1980 from Babcock & Wilcox after 42 years as a Inspector. He served in the 99th Infantry Division, Headquarters Battery of the 924th, Field Artillery, as cheif of Radio Section, 1943-46. The 99th was activated at Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi. It was called the Checkerboard Division. They then moved to Camp Maxey, Texas. From there Andy was sent to Radio School at Camp Crouder, Missouri. He went back to Camp Maxey in September 1944, to go with his buddies over seas. They arrived in Dorsetshire near the city of Dorchester. They spent three weeks there and between November 3rd and 7th, they landed at Le Havre, France. From there they went to Belgium. The 99th was the first Infantry Division to reach the Rhine. After the war Andy was in the Army of Occupation, until he came home in January 1946. Andy was a Staff Sergeant when he was discharged. Marguerite and Andy had three children:
        145731. William Wayne Bauer married Cinda Sue Avey on November 25, 1972, in San Jose, California. William went to Kent State University. He works at Mill Creek Golf Course.
        Cinda is the daughter of Richard and Caroline Avey. She graduated from Kent State University iwth a BS degree in Geology. She is a secretary. They had two children:
        1457311. Benjamin Wayne Bauer was born in Delaware County, Ohio.
        1457312. Mathew Amos Bauer was born in Delaware County, Ohio.
        145732. Joseph Allen Bauer was born in Medina Hospital in Medina County, Ohio. He married Claudia Norma Davis on November 25, 1972, in San Jose, California. Claudia was born in San Jose, California.
        Joseph graduated from Cloverleaf High School. He went to Kent State University for a year and then enlisted in the Air Force for four years. He spent fifteen months in Taiwan. He returned to March Air Base, where he met Claudia Davis. Joe was a Dental Technician. Joe graduated from the Department of Registered Nursing, at Solano College. He worked in Intensive Care at Kaiser Hospital. He now owns BauerWorks, an after hours typesetting business.
        Claudia is the daughter of Donald and Norma Cerone Davis. Claudia was born in San Jose, California. She enlisted in the Air Force in 1972. She was a Dental Technician. She now works part time as a seamstress for a local decorator. They had two children:

        145733. Thomas Charles Bauer married Ann Leslie Drewes on November 8, 1969, in the Lutheran Church in Wadsworth, Ohio. Thomas was born in the Medina Hospital in Medina, Ohio. Tom graduated at Kent State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
        Ann Graduated from Kent State University with a BS in Education and later received her MS degree. They had two children:
        1487331. Jefferson Daniel Bauer was born in Barberton, Summit County, Ohio. Jeff graduated in June of 1989. He joined the Army Reserves for six years. He is now going to Kent State University.
        1487332. Elizabeth Ann Bauer was born in Ravenna, Ohio.
